Our story began in Chico, California. We were first introduced by our mutual friend, Lauren, during our freshman year at Chico State. Matt was the cool guy who had his own apartment, and Justine was the girl who never wanted the party to end. The attraction was immediate, but love wasn't to come until years later. We went our separate ways during college, enjoying friends, and having our own incredible experiences. Fast forward another six years to when we were again reconnected by Lauren. The initial attraction was still there, and this time we were both ready for something more. Matt took us out for our first "real" date in April of 2014. We drank wine, ate sushi, and talked for hours. A few months after that, we met each other's families, and the rest is history. On August 3, 2018, while hiking in our favorite part of Tahoe, Matt got down on one knee and proposed! Justine immediately got down on her knees to kiss his face. She was so excited she forgot to say yes! We were really looking forward to sharing our greatest adventure with all our close friends and family members, but this darn pandemic got in the way and changed everything. After Covid forced us to cancel our original wedding plans, we decided to move forward with a family-only ceremony and hold off on the party for the following year. Matt's mom and step-dad, Jodi and Dan, graciously offered their beautiful home for our "micro-wedding" ceremony on June 26, 2020. It was a perfect night! It's been a challenging year for so many of us, but there is finally a light at the end of this dark tunnel. We are SO EXCITED to be renewing our vows and celebrating our first year of marriage alongside friends and family this June.
