We have requested that our guests dress in "black-tie optional" attire. Black-tie optional means that you have the option of wearing your most formal attire (i.e., an evening gown or tuxedo), or you can choose to wear a formal suit or cocktail dress instead. We kindly request that guests refrain from wearing jeans.
Our ceremony will be held at First United Methodist Church, located at 930 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 and our reception will be held down the street from the church at City Club of Baton Rouge, located at 355 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70801.
There are three parking lots at First United Methodist Church which will be open to our guests. City Club does not have its own parking lot, however, there is ample street parking and a parking garage located nearby. In addition, we will be having a traditional Louisiana-style "Second-Line" wedding parade following the ceremony from the church to the reception. If you wish to participate in the parade, we will be arranging transportation back to the vehicles parked at the church at the end of the night. More details to come!
The "Second-Line" parade has a deep history within Louisiana. When performed for weddings, a "Second-Line" parade is held in celebration of the new life the couple is about to embark on. The parade itself is composed of two parts: the “First-Line” and the “Second-Line”. The “First-Line” consists of the traditional New Orleans Brass Band as well as the bride and groom. The “Second-Line” consists of family, friends, wedding guests, and any passerby who would like to join in to follow behind the couple. Parade participants walk, dance, wave a handkerchief, or twirl decorative parasols in rhythm to the sound of the brass band as they make their way down the parade route. We're so excited to kick off our reception by dancing down the boulevard with all of our loved ones! We ask that after the ceremony is completed, guests file outside the church and wait to be directed to begin the parade.
Details are in the works!
The ceremony and reception will both be held indoors, however, the "Second-Line" parade will be outside and will involve walking (and dancing) for a few blocks down North Boulevard. All who want to participate in the "Second-Line" are invited, however, please note this is optional and just for fun!

While we love and cherish all the young ones in our lives, we've decided to make our wedding an adult-only occasion with the exception of the children in the wedding party. We appreciate your understanding and support in making this choice, and we hope you can join us for our special day.
