Josh had been in Boston for a few months, while Lee had just moved to the city—literally days before fate brought them together! Before starting her new job, Lee’s friend Eric McDonald came to visit, and together, they set out to explore the big city. Their adventure led them to a Celtics game at the legendary TD Garden, where they watched the C’s secure a big win. Still riding the excitement of the game, they headed to The Greatest Bar, just around the corner. The moment Lee walked in, she spotted a handsome guy across the room and immediately declared (out loud!), “Hubba hubba, that is the most handsome man I’ve ever seen—I have to introduce myself!” With what she remembers as a clever pickup line, she struck up a conversation with Josh, and from that night on, they’ve been inseparable. Now, it’s hard to imagine Josh without Lee or Lee without Josh. From their very first meeting, their story has been full of laughter, lots of basketball, and creating the best group of friends anyone could ask for. And in 2026, they can’t wait to continue their journey together and celebrate their love with all their favorite people in Kennebunkport, Maine!
The night before our big move out of our Boston apartment, we spent the day packing with the help of Josh’s dad. By evening, the place was deep-cleaned, and we were left with just an air mattress to sleep on—one that, conveniently, had a hole in it. Very fun! In the morning, Josh suggested we go up to the roof deck to say a final goodbye to our building and our first home together. It seemed like something I would normally suggest, so I was a bit surprised but went along with it—reluctantly getting up before my alarm. When we got to the roof, Josh looked out over the city and said he had promised me a big gift before we left Boston, and he wanted to give it to me now. Then, he pulled out a ring pop—a plastic, candy gemstone—and said, “This is the gift I wanted to give you.” Now, for context: I had spent months proposing to Josh in all sorts of funny, less-than-ideal moments (for him) with ring pops. My best attempt? Getting down on one knee in the middle of a packed crowd after a Red Sox game. Sweet Josh. So when I saw the ring pop, I laughed and asked, “Are you serious, Josh?” He smiled and said, “No, I’m not.” Then, from his other pocket, he pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee, and asked, “Lee, will you marry me?” I was so overwhelmed with joy that I immediately hugged him, tearing up, and eventually managed to say, “Yes, of course!” But what made this moment even more special was the ring—Josh had chosen his grandmother’s ring, a family heirloom. I feel so honored to wear something with such deep family history and to officially join a family I already love so much. Overjoyed, I suggested we take a picture to capture the moment. True to form, Josh smiled and said, “Great, now let’s finish cleaning the apartment so we can move out and head to Maine.” It was the perfect Josh proposal—a man on a mission, but with the biggest heart. I couldn’t have imagined it happening anywhere else, especially with how much Boston means to us. And I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life!
