Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Katelyn Ernst and Maxwell Brien
Kate's hometown of Boiling Springs is a picturesque, historic district brimming with world-renowned fly-fishing, access to the famous Appalachian Trail, and more, all nestled around a lake that literally bubbles.

Appalachian Trail Hiking

This is a 4-mile point-to-point hike with moderate elevation. Note that the Appalachian Trail expands much further depending on the route you take! You can get to this trailhead via a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from Allenberry.

Children's Lake Scenic Walk

We highly suggest you set aside some time to take photos here before the wedding or at least walk around the lake to check out the Bubble, the namesake of Kate's high school mascot! The lake path is 0.7 miles around and is a short 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk from Allenberry.

Kate's Favorite Running Trail

Spring Meadows Park connects to South Middleton Park via trail for a 4-ish mile loop with a few connecting trails along the way. The trail is a fine stone gravel through lots of soccer and baseball fields. The park is a 6-minute drive from Allenberry, or you can run there for some extra miles! A great place for walking too!

US Army Heritage Center Trail

950 Soldiers Dr, Carlisle, PA 17013

A 1-mile self-guided, outdoor interactive trail loop, highlighted by a Huey helicopter and M-18 Tank Destroyer (nicknamed the "Hellcat") perched alongside Interstate 81. Walk along the trail, which interprets the history of the U.S. Army and discover full-scale exhibits from the French & Indian War era through current operations, and a memorial garden. The USAHEC is a 12-minute drive from Allenberry.

Caffe 101

101 Front Street, Boiling Springs, PA 17007

The best lattes, smoothies, baked goods, and breakfast in Boiling Springs! Oddly enough, they also offer a pretty decent Mexican menu too. Plus, you can walk there from Allenberry and walk around the lake after your meal!

Downtown Carlisle

Carlisle, PA 17013

If you have time, downtown Carlisle is a really cute town to walk through. Check out the Dickinson College campus with their famous red Adirondack chairs, walk through some of the cute shops, grab a frozen custard at Massey's, or maybe stop by One13 Social for a drink or quick bite before you head home!

Hershey's Chocolate World

101 Chocolate World Way, Hershey, PA 17033

A must-see attraction if you're willing to make the 40-minute drive from Allenberry. Go on the Chocolate World tour and buy all the chocolate that could possibly fit into your suitcase. Chocolate World opens at 9 am! Unfortunately, the fall hours at Hershey Park don't align well to our wedding weekend events, but you could definitely check out the park on Sunday!

Ever Grain Brewing Co.

4444 Carlisle Pike, Camp Hill, PA 17011

Formally an automotive repair bay area, the open, inviting taproom is equipped with a 75-foot-long bar. Choose a beer from our 20 taps on draft and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere at their community German-style tables.

Wolf Brewing Co.

100 Legacy Park Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

Kai and Laila's favorite local craft brewery and scratch kitchen. It's a 20-minute drive from Allenberry and you can't go wrong with their specialty beers and cocktails. Brunch starts at 11 am, and their menus always change with the seasons.

Fall Harvest at Ashcombe Farm

906 W Grantham Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

The Fall Harvest Days at Aschombe Farm are a tradition that has been carried on for almost 40 years! Enjoy games, food, and activities for the whole family. Enjoy the corn maze and fall games at no cost! October 12th is the first day of Apple Weekend!

For all the days along the way
