We recommend getting into town on Thursday! For the ceremony, arrive 20–30 minutes prior to the 5pm start to allow time for parking and seating.
Thank you for making the trip to celebrate our wedding! While our ceremony will be in North Charleston, we recommend staying downtown get the full Charleston experience. Our ceremony and reception are a 20 minute ride from Downtown Charleston. The welcome event will be downtown. You can also opt to stay at one of Charleston's beautiful beaches. See our 'Travel' page for a hotel room block option and resources on specific places to stay.
The closest airport is Charleston International Airport (CHS). It's about 25 minutes from downtown, where we recommend staying.
There will be a welcome event on Thursday evening to kick off the weekend. We'll have an optional get together on Saturday - there will be a planned meeting place to hang out and enjoy the day (more info to come). A full timeline for the weekend can be found on the 'Schedule' tab of our website.
Downtown Charleston is very walkable, and Uber/Lyft are readily available. Rental cars are optional if you’re staying downtown, but a car may be useful if you plan to visit or stay near one of Charleston's beach towns (Folly, Sullivan's, Isle of Palms).
Charleston is typically warm and humid, so light fabrics and layers for the evening are recommended.
For us, Charleston is all about time with family and friends, good food and drinks with some shopping mixed in, and hitting the beach. Check out our ‘Things to Do’ page for our favorite Charleston restaurants, bars, and activities.
Polished Casual or Cocktail Attire. Some attendees will have their cocktail attire on from dinner, but feel free to wear jeans or a more casual look if you prefer! Collared shirts and/or button downs are a safe bet for men (Henry's prefers no t-shirts or large logos).
Black Tie Optional Attire: Tuxes and gowns preferred, but not required (dark suits and formal dresses work too). Keep in mind Charleston can get hot! Ladies: Feel free to wear colorful gowns if desired! Block heels are your best bet - there is a 0.2 mile walk from ceremony to reception, and the reception will be outside (brick patio and grass).
Our ceremony will be inside a Chapel. Our reception will be outside. We will have a tent in the event of rain.
Our ceremony will be at the Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel by Riverfront Park in North Charleston. The Chapel is within walking distance of our reception. We recommend using a rideshare app to get to the ceremony, as overnight parking is not allowed. Have your Uber/Lyft drop you in the parking lot linked below, and follow the stairs up to the Chapel. We will provide transportation back to downtown Charleston, with the first shuttle leaving at 9pm and another at the end of the night. Guests will walk to our reception following the ceremony. We will have golf carts available for those who require a ride from the Chapel. You can find a map of the venue on our Gallery page. There is parking available at the venue, but we ask that you please do not leave your car overnight. Our reception will conclude at 10:30 PM, with transportation back to Downtown Charleston at the end of the night.
