Altitude affects everyone in different ways, but it has been known to be prevalent in Estes Park (which is at 7,522ft of elevation). For those who might be prone to altitude sickness, we recommend spending a day or two in Colorado ahead of the wedding to get adjusted. We also recommend to everyone that you drink lots of WATER before you land in Colorado, and continue to hydrate during your time in Estes Park. While there will be plenty of libations during the events, please also beware - every drink can feel like 3 for those not yet acclimated!
If we had to stipulate a dress code, we'd say "cocktail-ish". Basically, feel free to use us as excuse to buy whatever dress, suit, formal kilt, etc that you've been eyeing. We will be inside most of the time but pending weather, our brief ceremony will be held outdoors. We'll serve hot apple cider and the venue will provide blankets, but being extra prepared never hurts. As Jim Carrey says, "Uhh yeah, we're in the Rockies!" Typically Estes Park averages around 45 degrees that time of year, but the weather can fluctuate quite a bit so pack layers.
We are envisioning this as an adults only ceremony and reception (with the exception of our 3 nephews who are in the wedding and any newborns), but we are more than happy to help you find a babysitter for the night!
This wedding may feel a little off the grid, as the mountains can tend to provide spotty service. But that's part of the magic, right?! And if you need to be productive or post a 'gram on the big day, the good news is our venue has wifi. That said, be prepared as other areas where you're staying may not be as reachable.
