One of the most popular hikes in the area is The Dish, named after the large old radiotelescope used for research in the Stanford foothills and visible from throughout the area. The paved trail climbs the hills and offers spectacular views of the Bay Area. On a clear day visitors can see San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose and the East Bay. The main loop trail is 3.5 miles and takes about 75 minutes to walk.
A slightly more aggressive hike than The Dish (unpaved) but another way to get outside and enjoy this beautiful area. Treat yourself to a beer (or several) at Zott's after!
A boat ride through San Francisco Bay and visiting Alcatraz is a quintessential Bay Area experience. We recommend booking tickets for a tour well in advance as they fill up quickly. The night tour of the island is especially fun!
Sonoma and Napa are approx. 80 miles from Los Altos and Palo Alto. November is a great time of the year to visit because of the cooler temperatures and smaller crowds since it's just after the harvest. Ram's Gate winery is beautiful and right off the highway as you enter Sonoma. Please note that you'll need to reserve tastings ahead of time if you visit wineries in Sonoma and/or Napa.
Awesome tacos and margaritas!
Aka Zott's has a huge outdoor patio with TVs, music and great food. Perfect spot for groups for lunch or dinner!
Awesome rooftop bar in Palo Alto with beautiful views and great cocktails!
Incredible local Italian restaurant.
Upscale contemporary American menu with classic French roots. This Bay Area favorite is the perfect place for a romantic dinner.
The Village Pub's little sister restaurant with a bit more casual vibe. Check out their adorable backyard patio for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Delicious local restaurant located in the heart of downtown Los Altos.
