We are way too excited to have all our friends and family in one place celebrating with us. Our hope is to have a quintessential San Diego weekend and spend as much time as possible with everyone. Come early or stay a few extra days to soak in the sun... October is our favorite month here with warm daytime temperatures, cool nights, minimal tourists, and clear skies (fingers crossed).

In the land of perpetual sunshine and fish tacos (also known as San Diego), a Jewish New Yorker and a German Ohioan decided to spice up their lives. They took a daring dive into the enchanting world of online dating on the mystical app called Bumble. April 30, 2019. With their online dating experience meeting with no success, Sam, with unprovoked optimism, messaged Jamie, a handsome Cinematographer. Miraculously, their messages started flying faster than a rom-com plot twist. Turns out, their shared love for the creative industry and the great outdoors made sparks fly. May 7, 2019. A week later, they chose One Door North for their first date. True love ignited over the decision to split appetizers instead of entrees and a few glasses of wine. Jamie, still on cloud nine, is proud about the extravagant amount he spent on a girl he just met. And to avoid any awkwardness, since he Ubered there, Sam heroically volunteered to drive him home. May 11, 2019. Their second date unfolded at an outdoor North Park brewery event, where Sam was thrust into Jamie's friend circle. Their mutual love for 90s hip hop became the talk of the night, leading them to the local dive bar, Whistle Stop, for Booty Basement – a 90s hip-hop dance party where they danced the night away. June 7, 2019. Exactly one month from their first date (not planned), Jamie asked Sam to be his official girlfriend at Buona Forchetta in Encinitas. The moment may have rivaled the pappardelle bolognese, but the jury is still out. February 1, 2020. Unaware of the impending global chaos, they made the decision to move in together in Normal Heights, where they still reside. During Covid, their lives were filled with hiking, camping, movie nights, and collaboration in their professional lives. And amid it all, they realized they were stupidly perfect for each other. Bonus: Riesling, Sam’s furry child, discovered his new favorite person. October 23, 2023. THE PROPOSAL. A Red River Gorge adventure unfolded with surprises. Picture dramatic rock formations, never-ending fall foliage, and rivers that would make Mother Nature herself jealous. Jamie, a Gorge goer since childhood, showcased the beauty all weekend by camping and climbing with amazing friends. The plot thickens. In front of everyone, Jamie hinted at a solo hike on Monday, just the two of them as they were staying at a tiny house the remainder of the trip (suspicious?). So, they tackled the trail he'd been eyeing – Indian Staircase. Sam was armed with a new phone tripod and remote control (untested, oops). Thinking on his feet, Jamie suggested to find a spot to try a fancy new remote-controlled photoshoot. Attempt one: too dark for the filmmaker. Cue dramatic stroll to the other side. A cliffside with the perfect lighting and view above the tree-line. If only all life decisions were made so effortlessly. Tripod in place, digital camera set to record, and a swarm of ladybugs joining the party. Jamie got down on one knee, fully aware that Sam's legendary clumsiness might turn this proposal sideways. Jamie popped the question, and funny enough Sam still had the remote, so she began clicking away while happy tears sprinted down her face. Sam had a suspicion, but when reality hits, and your other half proposes on the edge of a cliff, it's the easiest and quickest "yes" of your life. Ladybugs and all. AND... Throughout the past 5 years, they've been guests at 11+ weddings, embarked on incredible trips, explored nature's insanity, devoured the best meals, laughed at comedy shows, screamed at concerts, played enough golf to rival Tiger Woods, climbed rocks, and dove underwater with the fish. They've gained everlasting memories with friends who are now family, and overall, had more fun than they could possibly imagine. Needless to say, they can't believe they get to do this together, forever. A big shoutout to internet dating for being the unsung hero in bringing this love story to life.
