One day in November 2017, a group of friends went to volunteer to feed the homeless for Thanksgiving. This was the day that Chelsea and Jack first met. At the time they were living their own (read: not best) lives, but as fate would have it, they met again in April of 2018 and instantly hit it off. From that night on, they were inseparable. As they say, when you know you know. Thanks for the intro, Christina!
Chelsea & Jack had planned a weekend away in Palm Springs to celebrate Jack’s new job and to tick off one of their California bucket list items. Leading up to the weekend, Jack kept mentioning to Chelsea how excited he was for the weekend. Chelsea thought he was just so excited about the new job opportunity and didn’t give it much thought. Then, just a few days before they were set to leave Jack mentioned a comment about Chelsea’s unpolished nails. She thought… is he going to ask me this weekend?! Should I tell anyone? What if it doesn’t happen and I feel stupid? So, she kept it to herself but her radar was on high alert. On the drive out to the desert, Jack was calm and collected meanwhile Chelsea’s mind was racing. The first stop on the trip was hiking on the outskirts of town before checking into the hotel. *Insert Jack’s story* So the whole time up the mountain, I was wondering when I was going to ask. We stopped along the way up to take pictures and take in the sights. Each time, I thought not with TJMaxx and Target in the background, not with random people around. Finally we found a spot where we could take in the real views (even saw a mountain goat) and I said some stuff that’s too cringe to put in here and thankfully she said yes before I fell off the mountain and/or dropped the ring. *back to Chelsea* It was perfect! It was out in nature and just us. After crossing paths with people on the way up, magically nobody passed us while we were having our moment. On the way down the mountain I snapped a picture and sent it to my family. I couldn’t hold it in! After all, I had been preparing for this moment mentally for a few days now. ;) Unbeknownst to Chelsea, Jack had planned various other ways to pop the question but COVID was starting to creep into our lives and many places were closed. Just as well, it was truly perfect as is! Palm Springs will always be a special place for us and we hope to visit again soon!
The very weekend the pair got engaged, they also learned that COVID-19 was spreading across the US and the world was about to change as we knew it. Their love bubble may have burst a little, but their love is resilient and has carried them through to where they are now. They are so excited to FINALLY celebrate with friends & family!
Truth be told, Chelsea and Jack always envisioned their wedding taking place in the English countryside on a beautiful summer day. However, due to circumstances beyond their control (i.e. COVID) it was becoming more and more challenging to see this vision come to fruition. After a lot of thought and consideration, the couple ultimately decided a destination wedding in Mexico made the most sense. It's where Chelsea's family is from and where many still live today. It's where Chelsea and Jack took their first trip together. It's where stunning beaches and Mayan ruins collide. It's a culture steeped in warm hospitality, strong family ties, and not taking yourself too seriously. Pour that over ice, with a squeeze of lime and of course...tequila! Therein lies the magic of Mexico and we cannot wait to experience this with you all.
