Our Love Story

From a casual online connection to a love that spans continents, our journey has been full of surprises. It all started with a match on Hinge, although, at first, Laura ignored his message. But fate wasn’t about to give up. The second time he reached out, he sent a simple yet bold emoji: 💍. Amused by his confidence and intrigued by the unexpected approach, Laura decided to reply. What began as a playful conversation about wedding plans, future kids, and their dream home quickly evolved into something deeper. The connection was instant, but there was one small problem—Laura was in Colombia, and he was in the USA. Unsure how to break the news about the distance, she hesitated, convinced Frank would lose interest. But to her surprise, he didn’t. They decided to keep talking, both uncertain of what would come but unwilling to let go of what felt so right. Their conversations flowed effortlessly, spanning hours of texts and FaceTime's that transformed days into months. Despite the miles between them, they shared their lives, their dreams, plans, and a growing certainty that they had found something worth fighting for. After ten months of anticipation and several failed plans, they finally decided to meet in person. For Frank, the decision to fly to Colombia was a secret mission, telling friends and family he was heading to Miami for work to avoid seeming impulsive. Both were excited yet nervous, each privately worried about minor details like height differences. When the moment came, and they stood face to face for the first time, all the anxiety melted away. It felt surreal to be with the person who had become so familiar yet remained a mystery until that day. Within hours, the initial awkwardness gave way to laughter and ease, making it feel like they had known each other forever. And as the days passed, every moment together only made them more certain —they are the one. From that point on, distance was just a detail. He visited as often as possible, and together they transformed miles into memories. From suspicious boat rides to remote islands, mountain hikes for Colombian coffee, and exploring the vibrant heart of Colombia, every trip was a new adventure. Each visit strengthened their bond and deepened the sense that their lives were meant to intertwine. A year and a few months later, on a magical trip to Paris—Laura’s dream city—the next chapter of their story began. She had her suspicions, of course. His secretive texts and nervous energy were hard to miss. But she tried to convince herself it wasn’t going to happen, that it was too perfect to be true. Yet, in the city of love, in a moment straight out of a fairytale, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Her dream proposal had become a reality. Their story wasn’t just about the two of them, though. When they introduced each other to their families, it was like watching a mirror image—both sets of parents with similar personalities, instantly getting along. Laughter, stories, and shared traditions blended effortlessly, setting the stage for the future Italian-Colombian family they were about to build. And so, here we are, ready to say “I do” on the exact day they first started talking—four years later, in the first city we visited together, the place where we became ‘us’.
