Josiah and I met at boarding school in Kenya. He was the class president. I loved his heart for justice. Soon enough, I was bringing him a Coke every Friday—it was the good kind of African Coke, and it gave me an excuse to go on walk with him every week. After all, they say food is the way to a man’s heart! Over time, he finally told me he liked me, called my dad to ask for permission to date, and we fell in love. After graduation, we moved to the United States for college and began dreaming about our future. Eventually, we bought a ring and nervously told our parents we wanted to get married. Thankfully, they were supportive. So, during the spring break of my Sophomore year, Josiah flew down to surprise me on a Florida beach and proposed. Of course, I said yes – I don’t think I even let him finish asking! By the time we get married, we’ll have been “officially” dating for five years. We can’t wait to spend countless more years together, sharing African Cokes and growing older together.
