El Catey International Airport (AZS), also known as the Juan Bosch International Airport, is half an hour from Las Terrenas. It is the closest airport and the most convenient to fly into from Canada. Budget $80 for the taxi fare, which needs to be booked ahead of arrival.
Flight
The Las Americas International Aiport in Santo Domingo, the capital, is the largest airport in the Dominican Republic and the easiest port of entry from the US. However, it is a 2 hour cab ride to Las Terrenas. Budget ~$180 for private transportation, which needs to be booked ahead of arrival. Alternatively, you can Uber from SDQ to the bus station, where there are about 6 buses (Asotrapusa) per day dropping you off in Las Terrenas.
Flight
From Canada, Punta Cana offers the least expensive direct flights. However, it is a ~4h drive or bus to Las Terrenas. Budget approximately $180 for a private taxi, which needs to be booked ahead of arrival.
Rental Car
You may also rent a car from SDQ. The drive from SDQ and Las Terrenas is safe, but I would not recommend driving at night. Also note that there are tolls to get to Las Terrenas, so make sure to have Dominican pesos on hand.
Rental Car
In Las Terrenas, most people get around either by moto (scooters/motorcycles), by quad (4-wheelers), or by golf carts. You can also rent a car. We will post vendor recommendations and prices closer to the wedding date.
Travel Note
The city center of Las Terrenas is walkable, however you can also flag down a motoconcho (motorcycle taxi) in the street. They are a cheap and easy way to travel across town (if you dare - do not expect to wear a helmet!)
