A MUST-DO in Newport! Trust us. Park near the Forty Steps and walk along the coast for spectacular views of the ocean and the historic Newport mansions. The path is mostly paved, but there are some rocky sections, so wear sneakers.
Visit the most famous of Newport's historic mansions! The Breakers was the summer residence of the Vanderbilt family, and it's absolutely beautiful. Tickets are $32, and we recommend buying them online for a timed entry in advance.
Stroll along Thames Street for shopping, dining, and -- Chloë and John's real recommendation -- an arcade where you can spend way too much money to win a Providence Flyers basketball (don't ask how we know that...)
Visit the Lawn at the Castle Hill Inn for a drink on the Adirondack chairs, overlooking the Narragansett Bay. Chairs are first-come, first-served, for drink service only. While you're there, be sure to stop by the Castle Hill Lighthouse, where Chloë and John got engaged!
Stop by Newport Vineyards for a glass of wine on their patio, overlooking the vines! They have good food and often have live music, so it's a great place to spend an afternoon.
If you're a Swiftie like Chloë, it's worth the 1 hour drive to Watch Hill to see Taylor's iconic house on the cliffs. You can park on the street and access the beach that the house overlooks via a public path. Be sure to queue up "the last great american dynasty" for the drive!
