I recognized Kyle from our freshman residence hall at WKU. He lived on the floor below me. However, we didn't meet until the first semester of our sophomore year through mutual friends. Shortly after, our greek organizations were paired together for a philanthropic dance competition. I thought Kyle was so cute and nice! My friends and I would talk with him about how we were all going to study abroad at Harlaxton in England the next semester. There was one dance where the coaches let us pick our partners. I thought no one would ask me because I wasn't very good (always back row), but Kyle walked straight up to me! He is a great dancer (always front row), so I was definitely but pleasantly surprised.
Kyle asked Amy on a date: February 13, 2016 I couldn’t have been more nervous to ask. Finally, I got up the nerve to ask her and she said that she felt the same way, but we shouldn’t start dating until after Harlaxton... oops. First date: watching Captain America February 16, 2016 I’m 99% sure Amy suggested this only so she could see Chris Evans with his shirt off. However, I knew she was the one when she recommended a Marvel movie to me. Prague: March 12, 2016 We finally were able to travel to a country together on a last second trip to the Czech Republic. We were able to sit by each other on the plane and I became Amy’s pillow on the rest of our trips together. The Gregory Pub: March 22, 2016 Our first real date out in Grantham, England. We were able to walk to The Gregory and really got to know each other over dinner. Afterwards we went back to the manor and watched Dispicable Me! Harry Potter Studios: April 13, 2016 A woman after my own heart, Amy recommended that we should go to the Harry Potter Studios. This was the true test of our relationship to see if Amy could handle my love and nerdiness for Harry Potter. Made it Offical: April 28, 2016 I was able to ask Amy on a bridge in Venice. Amy told me that I could ask her to be my girlfriend on a curb and she would still say yes. Of course, I pick the one city that doesn’t have cars which means no curbs... Engaged: April 13, 2019 The absolute most nervous that I have ever been in my life. I had to hangout with Amy for close to 3 hours before I proposed. I told Amy that we were getting my senior pictures taken and that we should go into the chapel on campus. I kind of blacked out and don’t remember exactly what I said, but I think it was pretty darn cute. Amy said yes, we went out to eat with our families, and then I surprised her with a get together with all of our friends. Truly the best day of my life... so far. Married: June 13, 2020 I can’t wait to see what memories we add to our book!
Kyle had been insistent I come visit him at Western Kentucky University on the weekend of April 13, 2019 because his last dance was really important to him! I had another event for my UKPA class, so we compromised, and I made it to Bowling Green by mid-day on Saturday. Kyle told me we would be getting his graduation photos taken before heading to dinner for the dance. So of course, I had to wear red for the Tops! Kyle had been acting normally and I suspected nothing until we arrived on campus. He suddenly started walking extremely quickly, and I could tell something was up. We arrived at a small chapel on WKUs campus and went inside. It had been decorated with lights, candles, and pictures of us. He proposed with a red ring box, and I said YES! My sisters Allie and Kelly were both there to capture the moment, and both our parents came to celebrate as well. Kyle also surprised me with a huge party of all our friends later that night.
