Drive Park Loop Road

Sightseeing Around the Park

Wind your way through forests, past lakes and mountains, and along the shoreline on scenic Park Loop Road. The 27-mile road also provides access to popular areas such as Sieur de Monts, Sand Beach, Otter Point, Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, the Bubbles, and Cadillac Mountain. Along the way, you'll find picnic areas, scenic overlooks, and trailheads. All vehicles must display a park entrance pass so it is clearly visible through the front windshield.

Our Favorite Hikes

Check out our favorite hikes around the park!

Beehive Loop (1.4mi Roundtrip): One of Acadia's famous rung and ladder trails, Beehive Loop is a short yet strenuous trail. If choosing this hike, expect steep granite staircases, iron rungs, and exposed cliff faces (not for one with a fear of heights!). Can connect to the Gorham Mountain Trail to create a longer loop. The Bubbles: This iconic trail can be accessed either via the Jordan Pond Loop trail or direct from the Bubbles Divide parking lot. If approaching from the Jordan Pond Loop trail expect a quite vertical climb & scramble up large granite boulders to access the peak. Stunning views of Jordan Pond from the top!

Explore Southwest Harbor

Perfect for a half day excursion

Visit Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse on the southwest tip of the island. Explore various costal trails in the area in addition to a scenic drive on the way out. This side of the island has pretty spotty cell service - make sure to bring a good old fashioned map to help navigate your way back to Bar Harbor!

Downtown Bar Harbor

Stroll around this charming waterfront town!

Downtown Bar Harbor offers tons of shops, restaurants, and sights to explore! Catch stunning views of the sunset from Agamont Park or the nearby Ells Pier. Paid street parking is available all throughout the downtown area. We often found plentiful parking near the Ells Pier in the evening. If you're looking for a brunch/breakfast spot we recommend Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast!
