Our paths collided over casual Jesus talks and blaring worship music one Sunday night at Passion City Church in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. Garrett had recently moved to the city chasing a new life after college, while Tessa was doing anything she could to escape her work week at the Tyson chicken farms. What initially seemed to be a friendly hello to the girl sitting beside him, conversation soon turned into an unassuming invite to grab coffee afterwards. We would have never guessed an almond milk latte would change our lives forever…
After a mix of date nights, spaghetti dinners with family, and many late night road trips to see one another, talks of a future life together began to emerge. The proposal happened one sunny Saturday afternoon in downtown Pensacola. Garrett (with some help from his family, of course) had a table set up in front of the church where his parents were once married at, along with the ring, a personalized bible, and Tessa’s favorite flowers. We “unexpectedly” stumbled upon the arrangement with the inevitable, humbling question of “Will you marry me?” commencing soon after. Turns out God’s faithfulness and commitment to us still reigns true, even in the midst of a pandemic.
