In 2018 Dan moved to Florida for a new job. He was still unpacking boxes when a co-worker, Xay, asked him if he was interested in going on a date. Dan said yes. Xay's wife Rubina, Teresa's co-worker, asked Teresa if she was interested in meeting a guy that Xay knew. She said yes. The next day, Dan reached out to the stranger to start up a conversation. Teresa (being Teresa) asked him if he wanted to meet for drinks that very night. He said yes. The two met at Chilis because how can you beat two-for-one drinks? He asked if she would be interested in going on a 2nd date; she said yes. The relationship blossomed over the next 4 years. It turned out that Teresa lived a half mile from Dan's work. They both rediscovered their love of biking. Dan moved in in 2020 and in 2021 they adopted Adler together. In November of 2022 they traveled to Texas to visit Dan's family. Before meeting them in Round Rock they spent a few days in Austin. Day 2 started out like any typical vacation day. They consulted the Google Doc of "things to do" that Teresa had prepared and decided on a self tour of the local murals in Austin. They then consulted the spreadsheet and wait times for local restaurants and after careful deliberation they headed to Terry Black's BBQ. They bought their weight in meat and enjoyed a delicious meal together. When Teresa arrived back from the bathroom there was a flashing toy ring on her plate. Teresa realized what this meant--the war had moved to Texas and she wasn't prepared.... For a month prior to their trip to Texas, Dan had taken to hiding flashing toy rings all around the house. In the bed, in the fridge, in her purse. When questioned about these rings Dan told her they were cheap on Amazon and to "just have fun with it." So Teresa started hiding them too... in his pants, in the medicine cabinet, in his luggage. After lunch they rode their rented bikes back to the condo where Teresa found two more light up rings, one in the bathroom and one in the fridge. They settled in for a night of Netflix and chill. When Teresa decided to take a shower Dan told her that he had some men's lingerie that he wanted to put on and asked her to stay in the room after her shower. So she sat patiently in the bedroom while waiting for "the show." Dan finally opened the door, unfortunately wearing what he had on before, and took her hand to lead her into the living room. All of the lights were out and there were hundreds of flashing toy rings strobing from every surface. After a few "you better not be joking" and "it better not be a toy" comments...she finally said YES!
