Ten and Shawn shared a few bashful exchanges on campus early in their first semester, but it wasn't until a friend gave them a nudge in the right direction, by playing Cupid during a Halloween party in 2017, that they finally connected with each other. Quickly, the two built an easy bond grounded in common interests, faith, family values, Ten's love for cooking, Shawn's love for eating, and just having someone with whom they enjoyed sharing what little free-time they had. Though Ten and Shawn each started law school on a mission to invest in their own futures, it soon became clear that one of the best investments they could make, as individuals, was investing in each other as a couple, too!

Shawn proposed to Ten on 04/04/2020! Shawn initially planned to pop the question just before their law school graduation, so their families could celebrate with them when they were expected to arrive in Miami soon after. But, as with many of the plans we all had at the time, Covid-19 forced Shawn to think outside the box. Determined not to let the changed circumstances take their special moment away, Shawn convinced Ten to get out of her early-quarantine funk and get dressed up for a "Date-Night In." That night, they enjoyed cooking a nice meal together, listening to their favorite love songs, talking about the future, and reflecting on how blessed they are to have one another in the good moments and in the unprecedented ones. By the end of the evening, Ten was more confident than ever that she found the one to spend the rest of her life with. Feeling the same, Shawn got down on one knee, presented her with her dream ring, and asked Ten to be his wife. Unsurprisingly, Ten immediately burst into happy tears, shouted "YES!" and then they were engaged! Ten and Shawn are so excited to share in their joy with you.
