Magpie Cafe & Coffeehouse
An excellent cafe to get your morning coffee or brunch & just a short walk down the street from Hotel Winn. This is Kevin's favorite place to go for breakfast in Decorah.
Impact Coffee
Another great option for coffee/breakfast with a laid back vibe. Very spacious & ideal for large groups to hang out. This is also walking distance from Hotel Winn. Fun fact: Teesha spent many hours studying for optometry boards here!
The Family Table
This is another great option if you're looking for a traditional sit-down breakfast/brunch. It is not located downtown, but is a short drive away.
Don Jose Mexican Restaurant
A local family-owned Mexican Restaurant downtown. They have a vast menu for lunch & dinner, or you could just enjoy chips, salsa, & a margarita on the outdoor patio. Everything here is delicious!
Mabe's Pizza
A longstanding favorite among Decorah locals & right next to Hotel Winn. It tends to get busy around meal times, so you may want to call ahead or order for takeout/delivery. Highly recommend trying the taco supreme pizza if you're new here - it might change your life!
The Whippy Dip
A soft-serve ice cream stand with a wide variety of toppings for cones, sundaes, shakes, tornadoes, slushes, etc. They also have tacos-in-a-bag & other food items. It gets very busy on summer afternoons & evenings, so try to go when there's no line!
Toppling Goliath Brewing Co
Award-winning brewery with a family-friendly taproom, apps & entrees, brunch menu on Sundays. About a 10 min drive from downtown, but a great place to try if you're into craft beers.
Pulpit Rock Brewing Company
A kid- & dog-friendly patio brewery close to downtown. Another great option for craft beer lovers.
Decorah Fish Hatchery
A serene place that is suitable for all ages. Check out the beautiful Siewers Spring waterfall & feed the trout - bring your quarters for the food dispensers! Don't forget to check out the world-famous Bald Eagle's nest here.
Phelps Park
A great park with lots of playground equipment, picnic areas, and hiking trails with scenic views overlooking Decorah. A short drive away from downtown.
Trout Run Trail
This scenic, 11-mile walking/biking/running trail loops through and around Decorah and the surrounding area. It offers views of limestone bluffs and the beautiful Oneota Valley & Upper Iowa River. Try beginning your trip at the Decorah Fish Hatchery.
