We began optometry school together at the University of Houston in the fall of 2017. Surprisingly, we didn't talk much the entire first semester, because we sat in different areas of the classroom, and we didn't have any labs together. One night in the spring of 2018, we were both out with our own friends/classmates at a bar called Little Woodrow's, which was popular for its Thursday night turtle races. We started talking that night & hit it off as friends. One evening shortly after that, as finals were quickly approaching, Kevin saw me at the school in a study room alone - he popped in & asked to join me. We probably did more talking and laughing than actual studying, if we're being honest. Our friendship continued to grow over the next few weeks via additional study meet-ups & friend group gatherings. After finals commenced, we went out to celebrate with all our friends together, and afterwards he walked me home. We both knew we would be apart for the summer, so before leaving me at my apartment gate, he very sweetly asked if we could keep in touch & if he could "possibly take me on a date" the next fall when we returned. Obviously I agreed, and that is exactly what happened. Since then, we have survived Covid lockdown, finished optometry school, lived in four different cities across Texas, raised our now 4-year-old German Shepherd, Neo, & bought our first home together. We are so excited to finally embark on this next chapter of our lives through marriage. And we are so thankful for our amazing family & friends who have been the greatest support system we could ever ask for. Thank you for celebrating with us!
