Sarah and Casey worked together in college at Woodman's in 2009. Casey and Tim had just started dating, when all three became fast friends. After a few years in Zambia, then Boston, then Blue Hill, Sarah finally settled in Portland in 2014. While perusing a dating website (Tinder, then OKCupid), Ted stumbled along Sarah's profile and found that Sarah and Tim were friends. Coincidentally, Ted was enjoying a beer with Tim at the time, and asked Tim for his opinion. Tim gave an enthusiastic thumbs up, and Ted messaged Sarah on Tinder. Sarah ignored Ted's message on Tinder, but found his message on OKCupid to be cute and confusing. Ted introduced himself to Sarah as "You know my brother!" but never mentioned who his brother was. Once the dots were connected, Sarah and Ted met for their first date at The Snug on November 7, 2014. They haven't been apart since.

Ted and Sarah love to adventure. Ted loves to find the perfect getaway and surprise Sarah with new places to discover. One of their favorite getaways is Portsmouth, NH, the site of their first "mystery date". On a hot, sunny date in August, 2019, Ted took Sarah hiking on Mount A in York. Sarah noticed this was the first time Ted had gone hiking in his cargo shorts with his tripod, but that was the end of her curiosity. At the summit of the mountain, Ted set up his tripod for what Sarah thought were some great panoramic shots. But Ted pulled Sarah into the shot, dropped to one knee, and surprised Sarah with his proposal. Sarah immediately accepted, and they enjoyed a wonderful night on the town in Portsmouth.
