We're getting married!

On a sunny day in June 2018, Jessica walked into her first day of work at her new job in Sacramento, California where Michael had just started working a week before. Neither expected that they would move to the West coast, start their chosen career path, and meet their future spouse all in a two-week period but, as they say, when it rains it pours! Jessica and Michael hit it off immediately and started spending time together outside of work exploring what Sacramento had to offer and have been laughing, hiking, drinking and eating their way around northern California together ever since. They currently live in Folsom with their puppy, Maya, and cat, Rajah.

Fast forward three years to June 18, 2021, when Michael asked Jessica to help him surprise her sister, Hannah, with a visit from an out-of-town friend by convincing Hannah to go with them to Sacramento for a night out. They got downtown a little early (or that’s what Jessica thought, anyway), so Michael suggested they talk a walk and explore the city on their way to the meeting place. There was no out-of-town friend to meet, but Jessica was clueless so the ruse worked. Somehow, the fact that Michael wanted to take a stroll in the historic, unhealthy 110 degree heat didn’t peak the curiosity of meteorologist Jessica. When they got to the Capitol Rose Garden, an acoustic guitar singing duo that, unbeknownst to Jessica, Michael had found and hired the previous week, was there and asked Jessica and Michael if they’d like to hear a song they were learning. As they proceeded to play "Your Song" by Elton John, Michael sneaked behind Jessica and waited for her to wonder where he went and turn to look for him. When she did, she found him on one knee, engagement ring in hand, ready to propose! Jessica broke out in a huge smile and excitedly said "YES!" Michael and Jessica are so grateful to her sister and future Maid of Honor, Hannah, and her boyfriend, Jordan, for being there to capture priceless video and photographs of this special moment in their relationship.
