We apologize, but as you can imagine, destination weddings come with the need for incredible flexibility. We had our first test of patience the night after we ordered save the dates. So, please note that the date on your save the date was changed. The wedding will now take place on SUNDAY, JUNE 23rd. Thank you for your understanding!
When Bryan and I met in Europe for a special vacation, visiting both our favorite cities, I was certain that it was just that: a fun trip. Instead, I ended up completely falling in love with Barcelona and even deeper in love with Bryan. Despite my convictions that there was no way he would propose on the trip, and giving a declaration to him saying as much, he decided to surprise me on our first day there. As we drove up the coast to Girona, I pointed out a sign for Costa Brava. I honestly didn't even know what it was, but I had heard of it and knew it was suppose to be something special. He said, in his typical nonchalant and cool-mannered voice, "Cool. Pick a beach online and we'll stop on the way back." So, I did. I chose Tossa De Mar, a pretty beach town with good reviews online. We stopped just a bit before sunset and walked up and down the beach looking at the gorgeous views. Just by chance, we came across a small hiking trail in a random neighborhood that looked like it might lead to a view. So, we hiked it, in awe of the beauty the whole time, and went to sit on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Over the next twenty minutes or so, some beautiful but foggy moment transpired.... one in which neither of us can recall what was said because we were so overwhelmed with nerves and excitement. But i know it ended with a ring... and the whole way down, I had nothing to say but "Oh my goodness. Holy shit." In true husbandly fashion, Bryan took me under his arm to walk me down the hill, telling me all the reasons he loves me along the way, and then wisely recommended that we go get a pitcher of sangria :) It took another day to hit me... to fully comprehend that this day I had dreamed of since I was a little girl, was actually happening. I can't believe that through all the ups and downs, all the heartbreak and tears, there was Bryan. Magically (or thanks to Tinder), or paths aligned and we found each other at the right time in the right place... and that was that.
After our momentous engagement in Spain, Bryan and I spent the next ten days in bliss, with not a care in the World. While visiting our friend's house on the coast, we went on a walk called Cami de Ronda. This beautiful passage way continues on for miles, going from one beach town to the next, overlooking the ocean and the beautiful Spanish sky. We came across an open space with a stone altar, and as we danced under the night sky, I told Bryan, "Let's just get married here, it's perfect!" At the time it felt like a joke, of course we couldn't go back to Spain for a wedding.... but the thought never left my mind, and when I brought up later, Bryan jumped on board without even a glimpse of hesitancy. So here we are, so excited to bring our close friends and family back to the place it all started, to find the same love in this amazing place as we did. The wedding will take place just 400 meters from this alter, and we will undoubtedly take many many pictures there. We encourage every one to enjoy the walk along the water, it's truly magical.
