The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is a bright, elegant jewel tucked into Hagerstown’s City Park. During our wedding, guests will be able to wander through the museum’s beautiful galleries, viewing works from its renowned American and European art collection as part of the celebration. With light-filled rooms, marble details, and views of the lake and gardens, the museum feels both grand and intimate — a place made for lingering, exploring, and making beautiful memories together.
Parking at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is easy and free for visitors — there’s a museum lot right on site in Hagerstown City Park where you can pull up before the event, so you won’t need to worry about meters or fees. The museum’s location in the park also means there’s usually plenty of nearby parking, and plenty of space to stretch your legs and enjoy the surroundings before or after the ceremony.
We’re excited to celebrate with guests of all ages, and we truly want this to be a kid-friendly wedding. The museum and park give children lots of room to explore, relax, and be part of the joy of the day. That said, the museum is a shared public space filled with delicate artwork, so children must be accompanied by an adult at all times while inside the galleries. We’ll also have a few performances during the evening that are more PG-13 in tone, so parents may want to plan accordingly for little ones during those moments. Our goal is for everyone — kids and grown-ups alike — to feel welcome, comfortable, and able to enjoy the celebration.
The museum is fully accessible. Guests can be dropped off right at the front entrance, where there is a ramp for step-free entry. For the outdoor ceremony, there is a flat sidewalk leading to the ceremony area. Inside the museum, the ramp to the reception space is located right near the main lobby, making it easy to move between spaces without needing to use stairs. We chose this venue so everyone can arrive, move around, and enjoy the day comfortably.
We’ll also have a quiet space available in the museum library for anyone who needs a break from sound, crowds, or visual stimulation. We will have some kid-friendly toys and coloring books there for the young and the young-at-heart. Whether you need a moment to reset, care for a child, or just enjoy some calm, this space is there for you — no explanations required. We want everyone to be able to participate in the celebration in the way that feels best for them.
We’ll have a bartender on site offering a small, curated selection of beverages, including wine and a custom cocktail created just for our celebration. Because we’re hosting our wedding in a museum — a beautiful, refined space we’re honored to use — we’ve chosen to keep the bar thoughtful and limited rather than a full open bar. We’ll also have plenty of non-alcoholic options, including mocktails and other NA drinks, so everyone can enjoy something festive and delicious, whether or not they drink alcohol.
After the museum celebration wraps up, the party keeps going with our Big Gay Afterparty — a more relaxed, late-night hang where everyone is welcome to come unwind, dance, and keep celebrating with us. Please note that transportation to the afterparty is up to each guest. The venue is located at 21614 National Pike, Boonsboro, MD, and you’re free to drive yourself, rideshare, or coordinate with friends. We can’t wait to keep the joy going with you there. 🌈
Yes — rideshare services are available in the Hagerstown area, and many guests should be able to request an Uber or Lyft ride back to their hotel or home after the afterparty if needed. You can open the Uber or Lyft app to check real-time availability and estimated pickup times for your specific location. That said, rideshares in smaller cities like this sometimes have longer wait times or fewer drivers on demand than you might see in larger metro areas, especially later at night. If it’s important to you, consider scheduling a ride in advance or coordinating carpools with friends so no one is left waiting.
Think high tea at a fancy museum — polished, playful, and a little bit romantic. Dresses, suits, jumpsuits, florals, bold colors, dramatic silhouettes, and expressive accessories are all very welcome. If it feels like something you’d wear to sip tea in a gallery or stroll through a garden party, you’re probably right on track. We want you to feel beautiful, confident, and fully yourself, whether that means lace and loafers, velvet and boots, or something gloriously in between. For inspiration, we’ve put together a Pinterest board with the vibe, textures, colors, and silhouettes we love: https://pin.it/6Pt6d2HZ3
We’re planning for an outdoor ceremony in the park, but we’ve got you covered if the weather doesn’t cooperate. If it rains (or is otherwise unpleasant), the ceremony will move indoors to the museum’s main reception space. Either way, we’ll be celebrating in a beautiful, comfortable setting — no umbrellas required. ☔
We’ll be serving a generous spread of heavy seafood hors d’oeuvres, including both raw and cooked oysters, shrimp, and other seafood favorites. For dinner, guests can choose between hamburgers or a vegan option, so there’s something hearty for everyone. Throughout the evening, we’ll also have a variety of delightful international tea snacks, and of course, no tea party would be complete without a custom tea blend created just for our wedding. 🍵 If you leave hungry, we did something wrong! Reach out to us if you're concerned about specific food offerings.
Please plan to arrive a bit early so you’re settled before the ceremony begins. We’ll be starting on time, and the ceremony will be a modest length — but we really don’t want to pause or interrupt it once it’s underway. Getting there early means you can get comfortable, find your seat, and enjoy the moment from the very beginning.
First… just consider whether you really need to bother us or if Dr. Google could do the job 😌 (We say this with love. We're probably knee-deep in seating charts, vows, and feelings.) But if you truly do have something that only we can answer, you can always reach us at teaandrynwedding@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. 💌
