Luray caverns is just twenty minutes away from our wedding venue and a great experience for anyone visiting from out of town! We went here during our very first out-of-town adventure, and absolutely loved it. Make sure to keep an eye out for our favorite rock formation, the fried eggs!
Massanutten is located about forty minutes away from our venue and is a favorite place of ours! The resort has so many things to do including zip lining, golfing, go-karts, and even an indoor/outdoor waterpark open year round. We've been many times and every time find a new and special moment. In fact, Massanutten is where we were heading when Ashton proposed at an apple orchard on the way. If you're planning to be in the Shenandoah area for a bit, we definitely recommend checking out the lodging and restaurants on the resort property. The Campfire Grille is one of our favorites, and we recommend the s'mores martini!
If you feel like picking some apples or trying some hard ciders, Showalter's Apple Orchard is about forty minutes west of our venue, and has a huge variety of apple trees to pick from and unique ciders to try. It's a great spot to spend time with family or friends, has an amazing view of the blue ridge mountains, and is the very spot where Ashton proposed!
White Oak Lavender farm is about an hour out from our venue, but if you're planning to stay in the area for a while and enjoy lavender or wine tasting, this is a fantastic visit! Their cute little store has everything lavender from soaps, lotions, and candles, to lavender wine, coffee, and even ice cream. They have a really fantastic vineyard with beautiful outdoor seating and unique lavender infused wines. (Tami, you should not visit this store.)
If you're a wine lover and plan to see some of the Shenandoah/Harrisonburg, Crosskeys is a MUST! It has an amazing bistro and beautiful outdoor patio seating with a fantastic view of the vineyards and blue ridge mountains, as well as a ton of unique wine flights to enjoy while you take in the view! Crosskeys Vineyards is about an hour away from our venue.
For all our friends that grew up with Cici's pizza and have noticed they've almost completely disappeared, we have found one last one in the Harrisonburg area that will completely transport you back to 2010! They have everything from the Mac and cheese pizza and same old gooey brownies to the little arcade room with knick knacks you probably don't need but will want anyway. If you decide you want to stop by, it's about fifty minutes west of our venue.
