Cookie Table Details

What is a cookie table? A cookie table is a traditional wedding feature in parts of the American Midwest, particularly in the Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio areas (from which the bride's mom side hails). It serves a wide variety of homemade cookies as a central dessert or a complement to the wedding cake. Originating with immigrant families and during the Great Depression when wedding cakes were too expensive, the cookie table continues as a communal labor of love, with friends and family baking for the couple.
