For the welcome event on July 19th, the dress code is garden party cocktail attire. For the wedding day on July 20th, the dress code is semi-formal. This means suits but no tie for gentlemen. The theme for attire is masquerade - masks optional but highly recommended!!
As Venice is one of the closet airports to the venue we recommend planning your trip with a stop there! Masks have always been an essential component of the Venetian Carnival, this tradition started as a time for celebration. Venetian masks are characterised by their ornate design, featuring bright colours such as gold or silver and the use of complex decorations in the baroque style. Many designs of Venetian masks stem from Commedia dell'Arte. They can range from being be full-face mask, eyes and nose, to just eye masks. If you are able to visit Venice you should stop by one of the many mask shops to pick yours up for the wedding! Here is one of many local recommendations in Venice https://www.camacana.com/ You can also buy a mask at a local party store or Etsy!
When the invitations have been delivered, all the accommodation information will be available here on our wedding website.
Don't forget to pack these essentials: - Passports (note, expiration date cannot be within 3 months of your return to the US) - Adapters for charging phones (If you are bringing a blow dryer, curler or hair straightener we would recommend bringing a voltage adapter, US & EU voltages are different) - Crossbody bag with a zipper, that you can put in front of you (pick pocketing is big in touristy locations) - Pack a comfortable pair of walking shoes as these will help you explore Italy with ease. - We'd recommend downloading google translate on your phone - though most tourist spots will have English menus & servers that speak English
Even if you have an international phone plan, data and service can vary in different locations. Plan to use local wifi whenever possible.
The national currency in Italy is the Euro. We recommend getting some Euros when you land in Italy. Though most places will accept Mastercard/Visa's just make sure you've let your bank know you're traveling and understand the expectations of foreign transaction fees.
