The quietest place in continental U.S. and one of the wettest too. Go look for elk or spend some time walking through the trees...
A gorgeous 1.8 mile hike, roundtrip, to one of the most beautiful waterfalls.
okay, okay.. we're doing this in the off season so the lodge will NOT be open but you can still walk around the property where we spent many, many days. There's a nice trail called Moments In Time that take you around the shoreline or hang out on the dock.
We walked to this waterfall SO MANY TIMES. Short and sweet, very kid friendly. There are some stairs once you get to the top.
We can't predict what this winter will look like, so there is a really solid chance we won't be able to get up here. However, if weather is good and roads are clear this is the best viewpoints of the Olympic Mountain Range. The visitor center did recently burn down so there are no facilities once you are up at the top.
Explore the coast at La Push, First or Second Beach.. We also love Rialto Beach. If you do go, please be respectful as these are on the Quileute Tribe reservation.
The Spruce Railroad is a paved walking path along the west side of the lake. It leads to Devil's Punchbowl, a beautiful swimming hole where Martin tried to convince Taylor to jump off the tall rocks with him several times. To no ones surprise, her answer was always, "no". Bring a flashlight or have a phone handy, it goes through a pretty long tunnel that is pitch black.
Where the Strait Juan de Fuca meets the Pacific Ocean, Salt Creek is a great spot to explore tide pools. Depending on the fog, you can also see Canada.
