It was February 2017 in London—Taylor was studying for her master’s and Charlie was working. Matching on Match.com and after some back-and-forth messaging, they finally managed to schedule a date. Drinks turned into hours of talking and laughing and they hit it off instantly. Their story does have a bit of a twist though—a couple days after their first date, Charlie had to return to Ireland for two months of job training. They decided to keep in touch and if they still liked each other after two months of texting, they’d pick things up where they left off. Spoiler alert: They still liked each other. From there, their relationship quickly became a whirlwind of family introductions and London adventures. Taylor spent plenty of time at Charlie’s sister’s pub, met his mom during a weekend visit and even joined Charlie in Ireland for Christmas to meet the rest of his family and friends. One year in, with Taylor’s student visa expiring, they faced the big question: what next? The answer—Canada. Before officially moving to Calgary, they stopped in Washington so Charlie could meet Taylor’s family and, most importantly, her dog Carter. Taylor joked that if Carter didn’t like Charlie, the relationship wouldn’t work, but thankfully, Carter was obsessed with him. Calgary brought its own adventures (and challenges), like surviving -45°C winters and navigating wild commutes. By the summer of 2018, they’d had enough of the cold and moved to BC, where they’ve been ever since. The years flew by in a blur, life was filled with camping trips, late-night singalongs and traveling between Ireland and Washington for weddings, babies and family time. Having lived in Langley, BC for almost 5 years, they finally made the move to Chilliwack, BC to be closer to Charlie’s work. They got their puppy, Nala, shortly after, who immediately became the queen of the house. In 2023, they bought their first home together— truly making Chilliwack home. And that big life milestone was quickly one upped when they found out (the week they moved into their new house!) that they were expecting their first child! Then, after years of Taylor’s not-so-subtle hints about a proposal, Charlie finally popped the question on Christmas morning 2023, completely catching her off guard. Naturally, she said yes. A little over a month later, in February 2024, they welcomed their perfect little boy, Shae, who’s been the center of their world. Now, after almost ten years of love, laughter and occasional moments of chaos, they can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day with all y’all!
