Taylor realized on the first day of classes in January 2021 that she had accidentally enrolled in the wrong history course. Ben strolled into class at the last minute and there was only one seat available in the room.. next to Taylor, who had to move her backpack to let him sit down. Not long after that initial interaction, Ben pretended to need help on his history homework after sliding in Taylor's DMs with "ayoooooo" despite ending the class with a slightly better grade than Taylor (which really doesn't matter, anyway). The pair were friends into the following semester and eventually went on a first date to Cracker Barrel. On November 22nd, 2021, Ben gave Taylor a napkin reading: "Do you want to be my girlfriend? check yes or no", and of course, she checked yes.
