Flight
step one: get across the pond (us > athens) (hopefully by plane) step two: get to sifnos (by ferry) what's it going to look like?! step one: major us city (nyc, chi, atl) to athens >for example, atl to athens or bna to london to athens >if you depart on june 6 you would arrive early in athens on june 7 (i.e., 8:00am) step two: ferry from athens to sifnos >after arriving in athens, take uber or taxi to the port and take an afternoon ferry to sifnos (i.e., 3:00pm) >you can book through: https://www.ferryhopper.com/ ave cost round trip flights: $750-$1100 ***prices are volatile, timing will be important for best pricing*** tip: track flights on google flights out of chicago, atlanta, and new york to stay up to date on pricing pro tip one: athens is a major hub and you can get to any other european city in 2-3 hours pro tip two: sifnos has easy access by ferry to neighboring islands and we highly recommend matt barrett's guides to greece: https://www.greecetravel.com/
House Or Rental
sifnos is a small island (less than 10 miles long) and is full of beautiful cycladic villages kamares: port where you will arrive by ferry; this is where we stayed when we visited in 2019, beautiful sunsets every night; walkable restaurants, no night life appollonia: city center walkable to restaurants and main strip for night life you are within 10 minutes to Kamares and surrounding beaches there are several options to stay that are either on the beach or closer to it: kastro platis gialos ave cost for 6 nights: $250-$500 per person tip: we highly recommend using matt barrett's sifnos guide for more detailed information on the island https://www.greektravel.com/sifnos/ booking: use vrbo or airbnb (among several other booking sites)
Rental Car
sifnos is a small island with a few car rental agencies and no uber (at least, such was the case in 2019) rental car the best option but most of the options are manual book ahead for automatic cars you will also need to get an international drivers license: https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html rental moped you can also rent a moped but you will need a us motorcycle license taxis there are probably not a lot of taxi's on the island so this is not a reliable option
Travel Note
one: get your passport AND make sure your passport isn't expired two: if you cannot drive a manual (i.e., stick) research + reserve a rental car ahead of time three: you will need a european travel plug (seach european plug adapter on amazon)
