Is there a dress code for the wedding day?

Answer

Yes, the ceremony is black-tie optional. For men: a tuxedo is welcomed, but not required- a dark suit and tie with dress shoes is also acceptable. For women: a floor length gown or formal cocktail dress below the knee is recommended. There is no such thing as overdressing! Are children invited?

Answer

We welcome children to join us in celebrating our wedding day. Please let us know if yours will be attending so we can organize enough fun entertainment for them.

Will the wedding and reception be indoors or outdoors

Answer

We are planning on having all wedding festivies outdoors in the palace gardens. In the event of inclement weather, we will move to a ballroom inside the palace.

How do I get around Lisbon?

Answer

Lisbon is a very walkable city and there are plenty of options for longer distances! Trains: Lisbon's trains (CP) which connect to major cities and surrounding towns, are frequent, reliable, and affordable. Tickets can be purchased at stations, online, or on the Comboios de Portugal app. The metro (Metro Lisboa) is just as user-friendly. There are four colored lines. The red line goes all the way to the airport, and single rides cost less than €2. Don't forget to validate your tickets before boarding and hold on to them until your ride is over. Buses: Lisbon's bus system (Carris) runs 24/7 and includes two electric trams (including the historic yellow trolleys) and a funicular. Single rides are €2. Taxis: Lisbon's taxis are abundant and fares are generally very affordable. Coop Taxis tend to be the most trusted. Always have cash available as credit cards aren't always accepted. Rideshare: Uber and Cabify, a Spanish rideshare company often cheaper than Uber, are both available here. Upon arriving at the airport, follow signs for the Uber pickup location. Uber is easy to use and the drivers are very friendly and speak English.

What is the weather like?

Answer

Weather in Portugal is comparable to Southern California summers— sunny, dry heat but temperatures can drop at night to mid- 60’s. Make sure to bring a cardigan or light jacket for the nighttime cool air.

How do I get to and from the ceremony?

Answer

Transportation will be provided to the venue from Pestana Palace and we will have shuttles back to Pestana Palace after the reception. If you are staying elsewhere, Uber is an easy and affordable option that we recommend taking.
