How We Met

My Best Friend's Wedding

Raised in Hurricane, West by God Virginia, Clint followed his career along country roads to the Pacific Northwest in 2018. Clint made the move from Pittsburgh – where he’d been playing pick-up soccer with Tayler’s high school friend, Angela, and her future husband, Conor – to Redmond, a town just outside of Seattle. The town where Tayler happened to grow up. Tayler was living in Green Lake at the time, in a little condo overlooking the city, with her kitten Meera . She spent her weekdays commuting to Boeing, and her evenings running the lake or biking the city for breweries. Both Clint and Tayler had also been in recent bicycle accidents. Another coincidence? You could have called it fate, but they each ignored Angela’s attempts to bring them together. For almost two years, Tayler and Clint lived less than 10 miles apart, both working in tech and adventuring to the mountains on weekends, but never meeting. It was Conor and Angela’s wedding week where the couple-to-be finally met. During an evening barbecue on a warm Seattle summer night, Clint and Tayler were in exactly the same place at the same time. Tayler introduced herself to a shy blue eyed boy, Clint talked about Rainier (the second love of his life), and they both talked about each other to their friends the next day. On their first date they played miniature golf, on their second date they went rock climbing, and over breakfast on their third date, Clint and Tayler discovered that they’d matched on a dating site months ago, but neither had followed up. Maybe they weren’t ready then, but their timing worked out in the end. Nearly four years later, Clint and Tayler have weathered a pandemic, experienced two job changes, three moves, and bought their first home together. They live in Kirkland, Washington with three perfect pets (two cats in the yard, and one Blue Heeler pup with endless energy), and they adventure out into the wild in their car-top tent whenever they get the chance. They’ve visited four countries, ten states, six national parks, and shared so many memories. They can't wait to wed and for all to come after...
