Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We want you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident! Truly. We don't have any strict themes, but if you're someone who likes a little guidance our vague vibe can be discerned from our "Moodboards" page. The girlypops have described it as "elevated vampire garden party." Whatever that means. Think: romantic, textural, vintage charm. Bold colours encouraged. That's maybe still not super helpful, but more than anything, we want our guests' personalities to shine through. So please add your own personal flair to whatever you do. Have fun with it! We're not too picky about formality. Anything in the range of casual to semi-formal is pretty safe. Basically, you might be a bit out of place in a t-shirt and shorts but you'll be safe otherwise. You may want to rethink your shoes if you were planning on stilettos, as we're planning for a good portion of the day to be outdoors and the grass can be soft in June.

Question

How do I get to the Sir Andrew MacPhail Homestead?

Answer

From Charlottetown, travel East on the Trans Canada Highway towards Orwell. At the sign for Orwell Corner Historic Village, turn left onto the MacPhail Pk Rd. The road turns into a dirt road eventually. Don't worry! Keep going until you come across the sign for the Sir Andrew MacPhail Homestead on your left. The entrance brings you directly into the parking lot.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

April 30, 2025

Question

How do I get from the ceremony/dinner venue to the dance venue?

Answer

For guests attending the ceremony and dinner, we're planning to provide some transportation options for guests who won't have a sober drive from MacPhail's to St. Joachim's. More details on that to come. Don't worry - we'll make sure everyone gets where they need to go! If you're transporting yourself from MacPhail's, turn left back onto MacPhail Pk Rd out of the exit for the Homestead. Turn left onto the Murray Harbour Rd. Continue on the Murray Harbour Rd until you reach the Trans Canada Highway. Turn left onto the Trans Canada Highway. The St. Joachim's Church is at the top of the hill in Vernon River. The Hall where the dance is held is a newer building behind and to the left of the church. Follow the signs!

Question

How do I get home?

Answer

We're working on providing some transportation options for our guests. We're still working out the details - more info to come soon! For our guests who live outside downtown Charlottetown, you will need to arrange for your own transportation home. If you're having trouble figuring out a safe ride home or want some insight on possible carpools, etc, please contact Taya or Vinod and we'll help you figure something out! It's really important to us that our guests are free to enjoy themselves at our wedding but also have a safe ride home figured out ahead of time.

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

We recommend that guests arrive at least 15-20 minutes prior to the ceremony. This will give you time to get acquainted with the space and find your seat before the ceremony begins.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We kindly ask that only those mentioned on your invitation join us for the celebration. While we would love to share our day with your loved ones, space at our venue is extremely limited. Thank you for understanding, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Question

What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Answer

There should be an option in your RSVP form to highlight any allergies or dietary restrictions. If you have any difficulty filling out the form, please reach out to us directly so we can ensure that your needs are accounted for.

Question

Will Taya be changing her last name?

Answer

No, Taya is choosing to keep her maiden name. While she is excited to be welcomed into the Ramachandra family, we are embracing marriage in a way that reflects our personal values and love story.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We adore your little ones, but to keep our celebration intimate, we can only accommodate children who are specifically named on the invitation. Unfortunately, space at our venue is extremely limited. Thank you for understanding!

Question

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

Answer

For most of our out-of-town guests, staying in Charlottetown is likely the smartest choice. MacPhail's and St. Joachim's are about a 20-25 minute drive from Charlottetown. We are planning to arrange for some transportation options for guests to get from the dance venue to downtown Charlottetown. See the "Where to Stay" tab for our top recommendations for accommodations in Charlottetown. If you have any questions or need more detailed recommendations, please contact Taya or Vinod.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is the most meaningful gift to us and we don't expect anything more! Nonetheless, we understand that some guests may wish to bring a gift. We would greatly appreciate cash contributions toward our future together in lieu of traditional gifts. We have also created a small registry for those who would still prefer to bring traditional gifts. Please see the "registry" tab above for a link to our registry, which includes options to contribute towards our "honeymoon fund" or purchase a gift from our wishlist.

Question

Is everything in the same location?

Answer

No. The ceremony and dinner will take place at the Sir Andrew MacPhail Homestead and the dance will follow at the St. Joachim's Community Hall. See the "Schedule and Venue Details" pages for more details.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Unfortunately, PEI liquor laws have made it a bit too difficult (see: expensive) for us to be able to provide an open bar. To help keep things simple, we will be providing a few drink tickets for each of our 19+ dinner guests to enjoy a selection of beverages during the cocktail hour at MacPhail's (dinner venue). Wine will also be provided at your table during dinner. Additional drinks will be available for purchase. Please note that drink tickets are only redeemable at MacPhails, not at St. Joachim's (the dance venue). Thank you for your understanding!

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

We kindly ask that you join us in being fully present during our wedding ceremony by turning off your phones and cameras during the ceremony. We have a wonderful photographer who will capture every moment, and we can’t wait to share those memories with you. After the ceremony, we welcome you to use your phones and cameras as you please throughout the reception.

Question

What time will the dance end?

Answer

Last call is around 12:30am. Guests will need to find their way home shortly thereafter.

Question

Where can I park?

Answer

At MacPhail's (the ceremony/dinner location): There is room for approximately 30 vehicles in the parking lot directly in front of the entrance to the Homestead, so we encourage guests to carpool where possible. For guests who must park on the grass, we just ask that you be as mindful and respectful as possible, especially if the weather has been wet. Someone will be present before the ceremony to help direct you. Guests are welcome to leave their cars at MacPhail's overnight if necessary; we just ask that you please pick it up the next day so that the parking lot is clear before Monday when MacPhail's re-opens to the public. At St. Joachim's (the dance location): There is tons of parking in the church parking lot. Guests are free to leave their cars overnight if needed, we just ask that you please retrieve your vehicle within 24 hours.

Question

What's on the menu?

Answer

Dinner will be buffet style, featuring Indian food catered by the lovely folks from 4S Catering. Both meat and vegetarian options will be available. Please let us know on your RSVP form if you have any dietary restrictions we need to be aware of. We hope you enjoy the menu we selected!

Question

Do I need to bring cash?

Answer

Short answer: Yes! Long answer: MacPhail's (dinner venue) has a Square reader, so credit card is accepted (but cash is preferred). Please note that St. Joachim's (the dance venue) is a CASH ONLY bar, and there aren't any ATMs in the immediate vicinity. Please have some cash on hand if you plan to grab drinks at the bar at the dance.
