Emily and Travis first dove into each other’s lives in 2010 on the same private diving board team. Two shy teenagers, they only spent a few months together before going their separate ways. In November 2017, back in their hometown for Thanksgiving, they ran into each other on the infamous Black Wednesday — on the 22nd of the month — in downtown Los Gatos. Though they had attended separate high schools, growing up in the same neighborhood meant they shared familiar streets and stories, and this unexpected meeting brought them back into each other’s lives. That evening, Emily bought Travis a Kamikaze shot at the Black Watch, and their reconnection began. After reconnecting, they navigated a long-distance relationship while Emily finished her master’s degree at UC Davis and Travis lived in Oregon. By late 2019, Emily had moved north, and by mid-2020, their little family included two doodles, River and Stella, a flock of ducks, and the beginnings of a garden. Since early 2023, they’ve embraced homesteading in their spare time, raising ducklings, tending the garden, and canning the harvest — Travis has a particular weakness for Emily’s homemade salsa — and many of Emily’s flowers will be featured at the wedding. In October 2025, Travis proposed at Falls Creek Falls in Washington, marking the start of their next chapter together. Now, nearly nine years after reconnecting on the 22nd, they’ll be saying “I do” on the 22nd as well — a full-circle moment they’ll never forget. They are beyond excited to be marrying each other and to be surrounded by the people who have shaped their journey.
