This family-friendly interpretative trail takes you around the lake on a mix of graded natural surfaces and boardwalks. Please stay on the trail to avoid damaging sensitive off-trail ecosystems near the lake and respect all closures. This journey takes you into the Twin Peaks Wilderness and up to the scenic Lake Blanche, with the option to visit the smaller Lake Florence and Lake Lillian nearby. The trail travels along the south fork of the Mill B Creek before climbing up through aspen forests towards the reservoirs. Please remember that this is both a designated wilderness -- mechanized equipment like bikes and drones is prohibited-- and a protected watershed. This is an amazing trail with dense forest and a beautiful waterfall. It also takes you to a few lookout points with stunning views. The majority of the trail is shaded, with some sections that are muddy and slippery. The trail follows Farmington Creek, and some creek crossings are required. To get to the base of the falls, you can opt to do the switchbacks or use the rope. The gate to the trailhead sometimes closes during the winter months, adding less than a mile to the hike.
