LADY DOMINATORS!!! - But you already knew that ;-) Tasha had been on the team some years and the rush line was her thing. With me being new to flag football, I was automatically put on the rush line. I had two coaches on the rush line, 'Netta & T3. Back then, if you all knew Tasha, work, travel and sleep occupied her time. I knew who she was but didn't really see her that much, except for games and tournaments. With that being said, my first flag football tournament was 2012 Regionals in Ohio. I was late signing up to go, so I only had the option to room with T3 & Sunny or get my own room, so I ended up with T3 & Sunny. One of the top three things to remember on the rush line/defense is to 'Keep Your Head On A Swivel" which means, go after the quarterback for the flag, but see all potential blocks coming. Well, I was introduced to football very quickly as I was blindsided and knocked off my feet on a double block. When the day was over, I got back to the hotel room and T3 was so gracious as to help me out as I received my first crack. From 2012 to 2014, she was T3. From 2015 to the present - She's MINE, Lol!
What I remember most about our first date... HOT NOW! Funny story, I had moved from MD to DC and needed to switch my tags over. Unfortunately, my check engine light was on in my car, so I had to reset it to pass inspection. Now when you reset the light, you have to drive around for some miles so that the information in your car will repopulate. One night, I picked Tasha up, and took her to Krispy Kreme! I knew it was gonna be a good date because the "Hot Now" sign was lit!
For Christmas every year, Ten and I give each other three gifts: a big gift, a little gift and a sentimental gift. Christmas 2017, I made up some story that now escapes me about why one of her gifts would be late. I asked her if she wanted to know what it was, knowing that she would say no because she likes surprises. To cause a distraction, I asked her if she wanted to go to a play and she accepted. Never asking any probing questions (maybe because instinctively she knew something or maybe because she just trust me that much, lol) she only ask the day, time and what she needed to wear. A week before the date of "the play", I told Ten if she wore a blindfold, she'd get another gift, and she took the blindfold - Sidebar: I don't think I've ever known a person to love surprises so much. I then enlisted the help of friends and we began sneaking around to make sure everything was in place as the day drew closer. I couldn't figure out what I would say so I just began writing. Finally, I had the perfect words! Christmas Day arrives annnnnd I'm losing my voice! Not letting a little laryngitis stop the show, I continue to press forward. The day has finally arrived and I'm a nervous, yet excited ball of emotions. December 28, 2017, Ten arrives home from work and begins to get dressed. My heart is racing! It's time to leave so I put on her blindfold and ensured that I had the ring in my pocket. We begin to drive to the venue which was only 15 minutes away, but I drove in several circles so it seemed further. We finally arrive and one of our guests (late) is quickly running past us to get into the building. I guided Ten to the door of an old cotton mill, where our family and closest friends are waiting, surrounded by an exhibit of our relationship over the years. Still blindfolded, I led her up the stairs as Sam Smith's, "Make It To Me" softly played. I tell her to remove the blindfold as I dropped to one knee and with the little voice that I had, asked her to marry me.
