Traditionally in Pakistani culture, there are multiple events completing and celebrating the marriage. The bride's family will be hosting an event in Houston and the groom's family will be hosting an event in Chicago inshaAllah. Houston Baraat: The groom's entrance. We have something special in mind but you'll miss it if you're late! Nikkah: Our actual marriage ceremony. There will be a short khutbah (sermon) on marriage given by an imam (religious official) and then we'll make it official by dotting our Is and crossing our Ts. Shaadi: A reception hosted by the bride's side. We're probably most excited about the food and cake, let's be real. Chicago Walima: A reception hosted by the groom's side. We can't wait to celebrate at our beautiful venue, possibly dusted in snow by that time of year.
