Getting to Italy

We recommend flying into Rome Fiumicino (FCO), also known as Leonardo da Vinci Airport. It offers the most international flight options and is the easiest arrival point for guests coming from Australia. It is a 2.5hr drive from Nikis Resort. If coming from elsewhere in Europe or the UK, Florence airport is around a 2hr drive and Perugia airport a 30-40 minute drive from Nikis, (however flights to/from Perugia may be less regular and more expensive).

Getting to Nikis

Best Flexibility - Rome Airport to Nikis - 2.5hr drive We highly recommend hiring a car to get to Nikis and to explore the region. Cars can be hired through booking.com. There is free parking on site at Nikis and at the recommended agriturismos. For those that have been to Europe before this is a given, but be mindful of the size of your car and your baggage. The lower prices look great but the cars have no storing space.

Train to Perugia Railway Station

✈️ Step 1: Train from Rome or Florence to Perugia From Rome (FCO or CIA) The Route: From Fiumicino Airport (FCO), take the Leonardo Express (~30 mins, ~€14) to Roma Termini station. Switch to a direct Intercity or Regionale Veloce train to Perugia. Time & Train Cost: ~2.5 hours | ~€15 – €25 per person. From Florence (FLR) The Route: Head to Firenze Santa Maria Novella station. Take a direct Regionale Veloce train straight to Perugia. Time & Train Cost: ~2 hours 11 minutes | ~€16 per person (fixed price). 🚗 Step 2: From Perugia Station to Nikis Resort and surrounding area Once you arrive at Perugia Station, you are just 40 minutes from the venue. Public buses do not service the resort, so please choose one of these final-leg options: Rent a Car (Recommended): Perfect if you wish to explore Umbria's wineries and historic towns. Rental offices are located right at Perugia station. Resort Shuttle: Nikis Resort plus most of the recommended accomodation options offer a private transfer for a fee. Please contact the resort directly via their Official Website well in advance with your arrival time to book. Local Taxi: Readily available outside Perugia station. The 40-minute drive costs roughly €65–€80. 💡 Quick Train Tips Tickets: Book in English via the official Trenitalia Website. Regional tickets have fixed prices and do not sell out. Digital Check-In: If buying online, you must click the "Check-in" button in your Trenitalia confirmation email before boarding. Paper Tickets: If buying at a station kiosk, you must stamp your paper ticket in the green/yellow platform machines before boarding to avoid fines.

Accomodation Options

The closest town to Nikis is Umbertide (15 min drive). One of the larger towns in Umbria, with friendly locals and a charming and relaxed vibe. Umbertide offers medieval history, authentic cuisine and scenic countryside along the Tiber River. The vibe is more local than touristy. We will be organising a shuttle bus for guests between Nikis and the Country Hotel Poggiomanente in Umbertide, stopping at each of the recommended agriturismos, before and after the wedding. We recommend booking accommodation as soon as you are able, as properties book out fast and there are limited properties surrounding Nikis for which we can organise the shuttle bus. If you plan to drive to the wedding, then there are plenty more accommodation options slightly further away in Gubbio.

Nikis Resort

Due to limited availability to accommodate all guests, we will be prioritising immediate family and the bridal party to stay on-site at Nikis Resort. If rooms become available, we will contact guests directly to discuss the potential of staying on-site. As we navigate through the allocation process, we kindly ask you to be patient with us as there may be extra rooms we can extend to more of our loved ones in due course. If staying at Nikis Resort, please note most rooms will have to be shared between guests to maximise occupancy, but will be with people you know well.

Agriturismo Montelovesco is located in the centre of a large family farm and is housed in a 19th-century building, recently renovated and transformed into a charming agriturismo. It has 4 independent apartments which can cater for groups 8-11, 5, 4 and 2. It is 5.4km from Nikis and an 11 minute drive.

Shuttle

We are endeavouring to organise a shuttle bus to and from Nikis Resort for the wedding events. The bus will collect and drop off guests to their off site accommodation, if staying close to Nikis (i.e. in the suggested accommodation en route to Country Hotel Poggiomanente in Umbertide).
