Things to Do

It won't be a surprise once you arrive to St. Jacobs why we have decided to get married here! With fond memories visiting the village as kids, to the smell of kettle corn at the market, you can't beat this place. A tiny village just north of Waterloo, St Jacobs has the country's largest Mennonite population - you may even see them on horse and buggy on your drive in - AND Canada's largest year-round market! It is a popular location for tourism due to its really, really quaint appearance and heritage. Here are a few things you can do:
St. Jacobs Farmers' Market (only open Thursday and Saturday!)

St. Jacobs Farmers' Market (only open Thursday and Saturday!)

878 Weber Street North, St Jacobs, ON N2J 4A9, Canada

Pending you aren't too hung over on Saturday morning, you should be able to look out of your hotel room window and see the buzzing market. An easy walk down Weber Street, you will find the best destination in Ontario to get world-famous apple fritters, Canada's best produce, jams, insane meats and sausages, freshly popped kettle corn, special oils and incredible peameal sandwiches in the food court... the list literally goes on.

Kissing Bridge (West Montrose Covered Bridge)

Kissing Bridge (West Montrose Covered Bridge)

1 Covered Bridge Drive, West Montrose, ON N0B 2V0, Canada

Just a 10-minute drive outside of St Jacobs, you will find Ontario's ONLY covered bridge. Built in 1880 for less than $4000, the bridge was used to help horse and buggy cross the Grand River. The name, you ask? Legend has it that a kiss, in privacy within the walls of the bridge, was the required toll to cross it. (PS: Did you know the longest covered bridge in the World is actually in Hartland, New Brunswick and there are less than 200 covered bridges in the entire country?)

Waterloo Brewing Beer Store & Taphouse

Waterloo Brewing Beer Store & Taphouse

400 Bingemans Centre Drive, Kitchener, ON N2B 3X9, Canada

A short 10-minute drive from St. Jacobs, you will end up at Waterloo Brewery - Ontario’s first craft brewer opened in 1984. You have probably seen their cans in LCBOs around the province and this is a great chance to tour the brewery, try some exclusive flavors only available on tap and grab a bite to eat!
