Just like any other millennial couple, we met through Facebook Dating. Jeremiah showed up about 15 minutes late to our first date without letting Tara know. He blames the weather, claiming it felt like a monsoon outside, and he had to drive about an hour from Charleston to Huntington. After our sushi dinner, we went for ice cream and couldn't stop laughing.

Tara thought her 2024 Christmas gift, an all-inclusive hotel stay and train ride in Elkins, was the main event. But Jeremiah apparently had a bonus excursion planned: an unplanned mountain drive with enough mystery to make Tara just a little suspicious. After a few scrapes, some wilderness added to their outfits, and a very enthusiastic geology tour, he finally found the perfect spot. First, he tested the waters by asking if she wanted to come back next year. No. Then he asked about five years from now. Also no. At that point, Tara was probably wondering why this man was so committed to long-term vacation planning. Then Jeremiah asked her to close her eyes, got down on one knee, and pulled out a beautiful black diamond. Suddenly, the mountain trip made a lot more sense.
