If you know Tanner, then you would probably be shocked that we met through Bumble, since Tanner swore that he'd never use a dating app for most of his life. Then, after a time of prayer, Tanner got Bumble and stumbled across Kenzie and was immediately intrigued. With his corny Bumble profile, Kenzie couldn't tell if he was legit or being sarcastic (for the record, Tanner was being serious and is just naturally corny). Nevertheless, Kenzie and Tanner both took a leap of faith and met for dinner at May Way Dumplings at Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem on December 1st, 2022. Unsurprisingly, Kenzie was freezing with it being the dead of winter and Tanner immediately suggested we call an audible and find a new place to eat dinner. After hopping in Tanner's car, we drove to the Quiet Pint and discussed a wide array of topics and had a wonderful evening with one another. Most importantly, Tanner and I saw how important our relationship with God is and how we wanted our partner and future husband/wife to reflect that. Little did we know at the time, we both had found the one.

Both of our families were celebrating the New Year together with a weekend getaway to a cabin in the hills. This was the first overnight trip with the families. Kenzie was visibley jittery on the drive to the cabin. Once there, she noticed that I had changed into a different shirt (her favorite). I asked if she wanted to go for a walk. With no hesitation, Kenzie jumped up and agreed. We walked down to the creek. The families tried to peer through windows to watch, but the creek was well out of earshot providing some privacy. We reminisced on the past year before I got down on one knee. Kenzie’s answer of course was a YES! One minute more was given to the newly engaged couple before both families ran onto the porch to fire off streamers and celebrate. We kept the cabin weekend special by keeping the news within the families for the whole weekend, only sharing once we returned to Winston.
