The Wedding Website of Tania Rubiani and Gideon Rice
CHICAGO AIRPORTS AND HOTELS Just a heads up: the wedding isn’t happening in the city center or Downtown - it’s in a neighborhood called Logan Square, (think Chicago's version of "Brooklyn" instead of "Manhattan", which would be our Downtown). With that said: IF YOU'RE MOSTLY COMING FOR THE WEDDING AND JUST WANT TO BE BY THE VENUE: Check out Logan Square or nearby Wicker Park. IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO DO SOME SIGHTSEEING AND TOURIST ACTIVITIES: We recommend staying in downtown Chicago—neighborhoods like The Loop, River North, or West Loop offer lots of hotel choices and easy access to iconic attractions, shopping, and restaurants. Then, on the day of the wedding, you can just Uber/Taxi to the venue—it’s a quick and easy trip! Let us know if you need help narrowing down options!

HOTEL BLOCKS & DISCOUNTS

We looked into reserving hotel blocks, but to be honest, the rates we were offered weren’t great—in fact, we found cheaper prices for the same dates on sites like Expedia, Priceline, and Booking.com. So instead of locking guests into inflated rates, we’re encouraging everyone to book however works best for them—using points, discounts, or whatever travel hacks you’ve got! That said, we’ve still listed a few hotel options nearby that we think are solid picks in terms of location, comfort, and price. You can find those below. If we end up securing a better hotel block deal, we’ll definitely update this page—so check back closer to the date!

Airbnb Tips & Neighborhoods

If you’d like to stay near the bride/groom: search "Lakeview" or nearby "Lincoln Park." Both are fun, walkable neighborhoods with lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops. If you'd like to stay near the venue: The wedding will take place in "Logan Square", which is located on the city’s Northwest Side and known for its artsy, eclectic charm. If you’d like to stay close to the venue, "Logan Square" or neighboring "Wicker Park" are great options and easy access to the party. * The bride’s family will be staying in an Airbnb in "Avondale", a quiet, up-and-coming neighborhood. Avondale is conveniently situated between Lakeview and Logan Square, making it a great middle ground if you want easy access to both the bride and groom's neighborhood and the wedding venue. Regardless of where you stay, you’ll be in a good spot! The city is small and super easy and affordable to get around quickly by public transit, car or ride shares. (Uber/Lyft/Taxi)

Flight

O'Hare International Airport (ORD)

Located about 17 miles northwest of downtown, O’Hare is one of the busiest airports in the world and offers a wide range of domestic and international flights. We highly recommend this airport.

Flight

Midway International Airport (MDW)

Located about 10 miles southwest of downtown, Midway is smaller and often more convenient for domestic travel.

Train

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) - The "L" Train

Chicago’s public transit system, the CTA, is an easy and affordable way to get around the city. The “L” trains (short for “elevated”) connect major neighborhoods and both airports — the Blue Line runs to O’Hare, and the Orange Line serves Midway. Buses are also available and run frequently throughout the city. You can pay with a Ventra card, contactless credit/debit card, or mobile wallet. Single rides are $2.50, and day passes are available if you plan to use it frequently.
