This is an obvious one - it's the venue of our wedding, but while you are there why not make the full use and explore the castle ground! Leeds Castle (also acclaimed as the "the world's loveliest castle") is located in Kent, England, 64.5 miles (104 km) of London Heathrow Airport (approx. 1 hour drive). The castle has been on the site since 1119. In the 13th century it came into the hands of King Edward I, for whom it became a favourite residence; in the 16th century, Henry VIII used it as a residence for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The castle today dates mostly from the 19th century and was built on the islands in a lake formed by the River Len to the east of the village of Leeds. It has been open to the public since 1976 and has remained as a popular tourist attraction since.
Canterbury, a cathedral city in southeast England, was a pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Ancient walls, originally built by the Romans, encircle its medieval centre with cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. Canterbury Cathedral, founded 597 A.D., is the headquarters of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, incorporating Gothic and Romanesque elements in its stone carvings and stained-glass windows. This is also the city where Dan the groom was born!
Whitstable is a seaside town on the north coast of Kent not too far away from Maidstone. Whistable is perfect for oysters and seafood lover! It holds an annual Whitstable Oyster Festival, which takes place during the summer (late July)!
The White Cliffs of Dover are the most famous symbol of the Channel port in Kent. The White Cliffs are a recognizable landmark to those approaching the port of Dover from the English Channel.
