We met via the Facebook dating app (thanks, Zuckerberg)! We first “liked” each other on June 14, 2021, and Tamar initiated the convo by DMing Kevyn first with a simple “hello.” After talking for about a week, Tamar “ghosted” Kevyn (according to his version of events; Tamar’s version is that he texted her on her birthday and the message fell threw the cracks!) Thankfully, we reconnected after Tamar reached out to Kevyn on July 5, 2021, and since Kevyn didn’t want to let Tamar get away again he asked her out right away. Our first date was on July 7, 2021, at Tale to Table in Maplewood, MO where we enjoyed an outdoor wine and chocolate tasting event. We hit it off instantly and went on a second date (Thaxton Speakeasy Bar in downtown STL) two days later! After the second date, Kevyn learned Tamar was scheduled to travel to upstate NY for a 10 day work trip and decided that would be too long to go without seeing her. So, Kevyn asked Tamar if he could visit her in NYC and she was thrilled! On July 16, 2021, Kevyn flew in and Tamar took the train to NYC to spend the weekend together. Since Kevyn arrived to NYC first, he met Tamar at the train station and was waiting with chocolate and a card. Tamar remembers this sweet moment because the card had pop-out flowers and Kevyn said he chose it because he wanted to bring real flowers but they don’t travel well (lol). When Tamar and Kevyn returned to St. Louis (at different times since Tamar had to finish up her work trip) they went on another date and Kevyn eventually asked to be official on July 21, 2021, at the sunflower field in Spanish Lake, MO. Life went full steam ahead for the lovebirds after that: in May 2022 they found out Tamar was expecting and on November 24, 2022, welcomed their baby boy Tatum, adding to their blended family and making Jaden and Angelica big siblings. The two older kids are so excited for their parents and can’t wait for the happily ever after!
Kevyn, who is Catholic, wanted Tatum baptized as part of his faith so Tamar and Kevyn arranged for it to happen at St. Alphonsus Rock Church in STL. Because Tamar is “extra” (as Kevyn likes to say) she hired a photographer to capture the precious moments of the service and also planned for family photos at the end. Once the photo shoot was over, everyone began walking outside so we could head to a celebratory lunch at Maggiano’s. Kevyn pulled Tamar to the side in the church parking lot, got down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand, and professed his love for her before popping the question in front of their family and friends. Unbeknownst to Tamar, Kevyn mentioned to the photographer he was going to propose and asked him to stick around to capture the moment! Kevyn had initially planned to propose on Valentine’s Day but the ring didn’t arrive in time. Either way, Tamar was just glad it was finally happening!
