Dan & Tamanna met at a Speakeasy bar in New York City in 2018. Tamanna remembers it as the best hour-long conversation she has ever had at a bar. Dan remembers it as a very confusing date because Tamanna didn't stay for a second drink and had to leave for a "friend's birthday". Luckily, they met up for a second date soon after. It was a Tuesday night at a rooftop in New York City, and after 8 hours passed by, they realized they were the only ones left at the bar. At 2am, they were quite literally asked by the waiters to leave as they needed to close the bar. They continued their date at an Irish pub thereafter and remember it as one of those nights where it was just the two of them. No one or nothing else mattered. The conversations were natural, & easy. From family, to travels, to heartbreaks, to life goals, they pretty much covered it all. It felt as if they had known each other for a long, long time. Fast forward two months of seeing each other, Dan asked Tamanna if she'd like to go to Boston with him for a UMiami/Boston College football game. Tamanna agreed to go and thought of it as a casual trip to Boston but as fate would have it, she ended up meeting half of his family! Even though it was only 2 months into dating. seeing Dan around his family, & around his nieces – Tamanna knew. She knew that this was the guy she was going to marry. She remembers this distinct calming feeling that she had never had since leaving her hometown in India – a feeling that she was home. 2 years of dating, 1 very strange-at-first but incredible vacation to Iceland to meet Tamanna's Punjabi family, 2 cross-country road trips, 1 puppy, and a million adventures later, Dan finally popped the question on June 16th, 2020.
Tamanna & Dan had definitely talked about a future together, but with COVID-19, all their travel plans for 2020 had been cancelled. Tamanna was expecting the year to be quite uneventful but had been looking forward to the yearly family trip to visit Dan's family’s lake house in Newport, Vermont at the border of Montreal, Canada. One of the days in Vermont, Dan asked Tamanna to get ready for taking the boat out to a restaurant on the water. Just the two of them. The boat ride was beautiful and Dan got surprisingly sentimental – which in the moment, Tamanna chalked off to him having a few beers... Little did she know, they got to the boating dock and his nieces were holding up a “Will you Marry Me?” sign. Tamanna swears of blacking out and having absolutely no memory of what he said (and made him repeat later) but all she remembers is saying the loudest yes and feeling grateful. They celebrated with his family and got back on the boat for the most stunning sunset with a view of the Canadian mountains. Of course finding Dan and saying yes to marrying him was an absolute dream come true for Tamanna but she found out later that he had FaceTimed her uncle in India, and asked him for his blessings before proposing. He also imported an ethically-sourced diamond ring from South Africa, which happens to be her favorite country in the world.
After a few adventurous years in New York City, & Los Angeles, Dan & Tamanna are happily back to their home base of Boston. Dan loves showing Tamanna the spirit of Boston (Go C's), their dog, Milo, loves the snow (Tamanna is still warming up to that ;-)) and they absolutely love being surrounded by friends & family. They continue to bring the brightest smiles to each other's faces every day and cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of their forever with all of their loved ones.
