COVID-19 & Masks

Our original date of Oct. 2, 2020 had to be postponed due to COVID-19. We are VERY excited to be planning for our new date of Saturday, October 2, 2021. We will be following and asking our guests to follow current CDC and Washington State Guidelines in regards to COVID, meaning all guests will need to wear a mask the entire time they are indoors, regardless of vaccination status. The only exception to wearing a mask indoors is when seated at your table and actively eating or drinking. Please respect the mask mandate and help us keep everyone in attendance safe and healthy.

Acknowledgements

We recognize that queer liberation is inseparable from Black liberation and that our right to marriage would not exist without Black and Brown trans women fighting for LGBTQ+ rights. We are continually grateful to those who came before and honored to continue the fight. We also recognize that the land we are on is the traditional (and unceded) territory of the Coast Salish people, and more specifically the Puyallup Tribe. The Puyallup people have lived on and stewarded these lands since the beginning of time, and continue to do so today.

The Beginning

09.22.2017

Nicole and Jess met at work where Nicole was the receptionist and Jess was an assistance dog trainer. Jess would often work with a dog in the lobby, which is where Nicole's desk was. Conversations were inevitable, and a friendship began. After a couple years of working together, they started to spend more time together in social settings and soon realized how much they enjoyed each other's company. After months of hang outs, a roller derby injury that led to lots of long shoulder massages, and A LOT of flirting, Nicole asked Jess out to dinner. Neither were sure if it was actually a date. After dinner, they went to Lithia Park in Ashland, OR where they played on the swings, walked the path around the park at night navigating only by the flashlights on their phones, and ended up at the stairs that led to a creek where they sat and talked the rest of the evening. Jess was cold, so Nicole put her arms around her to keep her warm. They sat like that for so long - talking, laughing, freezing their butts off - that they lost track of time. When they finally decided to head back to the car, Jess told Nicole that she had a pretty sizable crush on her and asked how she felt about that. The feeling was mutual.

The Proposal

09.23.2019

Nicole and Jess celebrated their 2-year anniversary and the next day went to Mount Rainier National Park to go hiking. Nicole had been planning to propose for a while and was just waiting for the perfect moment. On their way out after a cold and foggy hike, they stopped at every waterfall and scenic lookout they could find. The park was busy with little to no time alone, so Nicole had to be ready to pop the question at any moment they happened to get alone. They got to the last waterfall, Christine Falls, and Nicole was worried it would be too busy for the proposal to happen but, luckily, after a few minutes, the other people cleared out - but Jess was also ready to go. Nicole asked if they could stand there for a while longer, so she wrapped her arms around her and just stared out at the waterfall playing over and over in her head how she was going to ask. She asked Jess, "so, you really want to spend your life with me?" and Jess jokingly replied, "what, are you going to propose? Do you have a ring with you?" Nicole laughed and tried to divert the conversation without giving it away. A couple minutes later, after talking a bit more, Nicole pulled the ring out of her pocket and asked Jess to marry her, to which Jess replied, "oh my god!" and they both laughed because of her joking question earlier. I'm sure you can all guess what her answer was.
