Initial Meeting

A December to Remember

While Philadelphia is known as the City of Brotherly Love, it became the location of the love story of Talisha and Darius. On December 12th, 2019, Talisha travelled to Philadelphia to attend the Military Development Symposium Conference for Comcast. As she walked into the Comcast Technology Center to pick up her conference credentials, she saw a handsome chocolate man working the welcome table. Little did she know, he was waiting for her to arrive. Darius was in charge of IT of the conference as well as knowing the list of attendees, so when he first came across Talisha's name, his interest was piqued. Naturally, he looked her up on the company website and social media to match a face to name. He definitely liked what he saw. As she approached him at the desk, and they greeted one another, he said, "I think we met before." Talisha, still with a smile on her face, shook her head and said " No, I don't think so." This was her first time in Philadelphia, and she didn't know anyone from there. Darius replied, "You emailed me the other day about the app, right?" At that moment, Talisha remembered she did have trouble accessing the conference app and Darius was the one whom she emailed. Still with a smile on her face and slightly embarrassed, she said, " Ohh, yeah. Well, thanks!" and hurried off to sit down. Undaunted, Darius remained steadfast that somehow the two would spark a conversation.

Sparks Fly

Later that night after Day 1 of the conference, attendees went to Byblos Hookah Lounge to unwind. If you know Talisha and Darius, you know they were there! From opposite sides of the table, they did not have much conversation but nonetheless, a brief moment ensued where Talisha wondered about the typical party scene in Philly. A tired Darius perked up at her inquires to assure her while the night was a little slow, it was a fun place to be. The next day went through as Darius and Talisha exchanged brief looks and glances until Talisha wanted to take her photo in front of the step and repeat. She noticed Darius standing by the banner and approached him asking about his Alpha Phi Alpha wristband which led to a brief conversation about his recent crossing into the organization and their other similar interests which then led to her asking if he could take her picture. Well, of course, Darius happily obliged but not before taking the photo using his phone. That way, he had to get her number and send them to her. (Genius!) As the night was winding down, Darius informed Talisha that a group would be heading to sing karaoke at a local spot after the conference. If you know Talisha, she was definitely down! So Darius assured her that he would save a spot next to him at Tango Lounge once she arrived. Once at the lounge, along with the rest of the large conference, Darius and Talisha partied and danced the night off, snapping many pics and posting many stories on Instagram together. Some of which drew the attention of many of their friends who watched from home. Meanwhile Talisha and Darius had such a great time that they wanted to see each other the next day at the Army-Navy Game tailgate. They spent breakfast together and rode the train with the group as they ventured to Lincoln Financial Field. As Darius was working with the conference, he was able to switch their tickets for the game to sit next each other.

First Date

A December to Remember

Afterwards Darius asked Talisha to dinner that night at Urban Farmer. As they chatted and got to know one another more, Darius soon found out Talisha's love of oysters. After an amazing dinner, they did not want the night to end so Darius asked if she wanted to check out a place called His and Hers. When they arrive, hardly anyone was on the dance floor, but if you know Talisha, you know that changed quickly. She even met his sister Morgan that night. Afterward, Darius took Talisha to experience her first cheesesteak at the famous Ishkibibbles on South Street which started a debate on whether you put ketchup on a cheesesteak or not (YOU DO!). They then went back to the hotel where they parted ways but not before vowing to stay in contact with each other.

AND THE REST IS HISTORY!

From Instagram Video chats to Google Duo conversations, it grew to face-to-face conversations in each other's respective cities. And finally moving in with each other during the summer of 2021 to Southern New Jersey where they still call home today!
