We met during our MBA program at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. We were both ethics reps for our sections and met for the first time during our initial (and only) ethics rep meeting. After this brief meeting, we bumped into each other a few more times, but nothing clicked until one day five months later when Max overheard Talia talking about her cat, Potsu, and decided that this was a girl he wanted to get to know. Max joined the ultimate frisbee club because Talia was on the team, and he soon succeeded in getting her to meet up with the rugby lads for drinks, which he then cleverly morphed into a very successful date. Talia was a complete nerd and Max was a total jock, and while many people initially scratched their heads, it was readily apparent to our closest friends that we were a match. Max's rugby mates and friends even told him he was going to marry Talia - and they were right!
Max always joked that he would propose with a ring pop - Talia believed him. Thankfully, Max knew better. Furthermore, he had a plan. While on a much needed vacation to Loreto, Mexico, he planned to take Talia to a romantic dinner and then a walk on the beach at sunset where he would propose. Max's plan, like most plans, didn't survive 30 seconds. A good moment never presented itself, and Talia wasn't feeling up for much walking on the beach after an exhausting trip. While she took a nap, Max went to contemplate his existence at the hotel's rooftop pool. Eventually, the sun set, and Talia woke. When she found Max at the otherwise empty rooftop pool, they reminisced about meeting and the many adventures they'd shared. As they chatted, a street musician began playing classic rock in the square below. Max thanked the universe for setting him up with a perfect opportunity, got down on one knee, held up the ring, and asked Talia to be his partner for all of their adventures to come. Before we danced the night away under the stars while being serenaded from below, Talia said two things: "Of course I will marry you!" Followed shortly by a surprised, "It's not a ring pop!"
