It all started as an innocuous invitation to bar trivia from a mutual friend. At the end of the night, they didn't win, but they realized they enjoyed talking to each other, which is really the most important part, right? Not for Eric, who was so upset about the loss that it didn't even occur to him to ask for Talia's number until their friend mouthed that he should as she left the bar. Soon after, they had a great first date that Talia enjoyed so much, she turned Eric down when he asked for a second date. Sure, she said she had "just gotten out of a relationship" but he knew the truth was that he's just really bad at first dates. It was only months later when they ran into each other at another mutual friend's birthday party that they decided to go on a second first date. This time, it took, and they had a wonderful month together before Talia announced she had found a job in California (SERIOUSLY). So they said their goodbyes at the airport, not being sure what was next. But they continued to talk and text, and soon they were flying cross-country to spend weekends together. After three years and a lot of JetBlue points, it didn't seem like geography or bad timing were going to stop them from spending their lives together. Now they both call New York home, and they still go back to that bar they went to on their first first date, but they haven't gone back to trivia at Franklin Park because Eric thinks that game is rigged.
